Paarden Island Branch / Cape Town: Leo tried to convince me by „assessing“ my non-working Engel 40l-Camping fridge with only touching it with his hands - that my cooling system is certainly broken and the repair costs will be more than R 10K - So he tried to sell me a new one - without even testing the old fridge. Me asking him to first test the old fridge resulted in another quote of R 1000 to do a proper fault finding. As i had the feeling that he is fouling around with me, a lady driving a 4x4, I took the fridge elsewhere to get a neutral opinion. The fault was an easy and cheap one: Relais corroded. It only costed me R 600 to repair. Leo from 4x4 Mega World is giving shocking, unqualified and *****ulent advises. I lost all trust in your branch - and I will make sure that this kind of „Service“ is going viral.

Can't say enough good things about this business, and even more so, the great folks working there. Took my 76 in to have an ARB bull bar fitted. The team really knows their stuff and, where every other 4x4 fitment centre that I approached quoted 3 to 4 hours of labour to do the fitment, these chaps had the entire job done in just over an hour. Not only did they end up saving me a few grand, I spent a bit of time watching them work and I feel 100% confident that the job was done to perfection. A massive thanks to Kurt and team for setting the benchmark when it comes to efficiency and quality installations of 4x4 gear. Eager to go back in a couple of months to have an OME suspension and a roof top tent fitted. 10 out of 10!!!!

Since 11 February I have been trying to purchase an "Old Man Emu" suspension kit for my 2012 Toyota Fortuner. Three quarters of the kit has been available but the rear coil springs have not been in stock. Firstly, I struggle to understand how one component of a kit would be out of stock as the 4 components are all part of a complete unit that are installed and work together. Secondly, I am rather disappointed that "4X4 Megaworld" who have been awarded the sole exclusive National franchise for this product can allow such an integral component to be "out of stock". Thirdly, 4X4 Megaworld cannot give the agents any idea of a delivery date, despite the fact that the container with the goods has allegedly arrived in Cape Town. In fact, if I understand correctly, the local agent that I am dealing with has repeatedly been given "hollow" assurances that the rear coils springs will be available within a few days and upon enquiry are told the same thing again and again. It has been more than two months since my original attempt to secure this product. I will be leaving on an off road adventure in the middle of next month that is tailor made for OME suspension, but despite having already paid 50% deposit, I have no assurance from 4X4 Megaworld that I will have the product installed. I wonder if Old Man Emu holding company in Australia is aware of our frustrations and the inability of their franchisee to deliver their product.

I took my Engel 40l Fridge to 4x4 Mega World in Edenvale for repair on the 1st of December 2020. The fault was a non-responsive cabinet temperature monitor. After inspection of the Fridge, I was informed that the cabinet temperature unit was faulty, and it needed a new battery. I agreed to the quote of R850 and they proceeded with the repair. A few hours after collecting my Fridge the cabinet temperature monitor again was not displaying the temperature! I decided to inspect the unit myself. I found that they did not replace the cabinet temperature monitor as quoted, the new battery was held in with a piece of paper and one could clearly see that the O-ring sealing the monitor was not present. The bulkhead thread was also stripped during the repair. The work performed was uphauling and unethical. I have serious trust issues with the Edenvale branch and would not recommend them. I am waiting to see how they will respond to their shoddy repair work. Regards, Hercules

Soon before the country lock down, I took my Engel fridge to the Meadowdale branch after phoning to ascertain if repairs/service was available. Zirk assured me they do service and repairs on site. I travelled through on a Friday and left the fridge with Zirk and Waldo. The fridge wasn't cooling and struggled at Nossob the month before. Monday, I was called by Lucy to say the fridge had passed all tests on 12 & 220volt and could be picked up. I travelled through on Wednesday, welcomed by sanitising and no handshaking. Lucy said there was no charge as they had not repaired anything apart from cleaning the compressor and cooling fins. I was prepared to pay for the labour, but the offer was politely refused. At home it is now functioning perfectly. The staff were all friendly and amazingly positive in light of the threatening downturn in business. When the lockdown is over, we must where possible support local business to help them and employees recover from the economic devastation of Covid-19. #SupportLocal please.
