I was invited for an interview at this company via a telephone call from Mr Bishop Govender, whom I believe to be the founder and chairman of the board for this company. A few questions were asked by the gentleman and I agreed to make myself available for the interview today, 18-12-2020. I was asked to be present for this interview at 9am this morning, which I did do. Upon arriving at the company’s office I was greeted by a very polite receptionist. And that was the end of the good. I sat in wait for just over 35 minutes because Mr Govender was not in at the office. As an employer if you are not punctual, how can you expect this of staff. Upon his arrival, Mr Govender had interviewed another gentleman for about 10 minutes which left me waiting for just over 45 min for an interview that was scheduled by Mr Govender himself. After the entering the interview room I was greeted by Mr Govender and a representative of HR that goes by the name Zondi. The interview started well but then both gentlemen’s phones began to ring. This shows from the onset that my time as a prospective candidate was not taken seriously despite the HR representative thanking me for making myself present. The HR representative then started speaking in a demeaning or derogatory manner as he had seen that I had worked for multiple companies over the pass 10 years. After which Mr Govender stated that he thought I worked for a single company for 10 years even though both gentlemen had a copy of my CV even before I was called up for an interview. This clearly shows that neither of the 2 took the time to exam my cv before calling me. After asking my reason for loss of employment at my previous job, the HR representative just said that he knows about “these things”, and when I asked what he was referring to, the gentleman could not give me a straight answer. This kind of response was a very poor reflection of the individual as well as the company’s HR department. The representative went on to tell me that I should not list my entire employment history on my cv as it does not represent me well and that I should I list 2 jobs. Afterwards I said to him that he is telling me that it is okay to lie on my cv and omit truthful information as well as falsify information in order to obtain a job, to which again he was unable to answer me. The hr representative then stated that wanting better is not always about earning more money, which I totally agree with, however this gentleman knows nothing about me as an individual and why earning more money has been crucial to me. The representative made assumptions about me as a person without know where I come from and why I had to make such decisions. I hope no one else that is interviewed by this man has to deal with that.
