My client decided to upgrade the existing manual roller double garage doors, with a more modern and electric garage door. I contacted Adams doors in October 2023 to assist with the installation of doors.
I trusted them as I previously worked with them on the 2 projects I had.
Adams Door visited the site, took measurements, and informed me that the vaulted ceilings were too low to accommodate the new garage installation. They advised that either the roof needs to be removed and rebuilt or I need to appoint a builder to construct a pillar and crossbeam approximately 1 meter inward from the original garage door to accommodate the new garage. Trusting the garage specialist, I opted for the most cost-effective method which was to appoint a builder to build a pillar 1m inward towards the garage. In September 2023, I paid a deposit of R20 000.00 to Adams Door. A builder was also appointed as advised by Adams Doors. Adams Doors reattended the site to take measurements and provided the measurements to the builder who rebuilt the pillar 1 m inwards which will allow enough space for the brackets to be installed, as instructed by Adams Door.
Adams Door then proceeded to install the garage doors on the new spacing. After the garage doors were installed, it was discovered that the garage was no longer big enough to accommodate longer-based vehicles, which had previously been able to fit.
I contacted Adams Doors raising my concerns on how they guided my builder to build a garage which does not fit the vehicles as it usually did. I spoke to a gentleman who could not give me answers he then transferred me to Loretta who placed all the blame on the builder and she plainly stated that there is nothing they can do about it.
It’s been 7 months since the installation of the doors but the mounting of the garage is loose on both sides with the left side being completely dislocated from the wall.
I then appointed a specialist to determine the reasons of the garage door being dislocated from the wall. And the report indicated that the mountings came loose due to the installer drilling the *****s at an angle, which did not bind itself completely onto the newly built crossbeam.
The size of the *****s was also not uniform, which explained why the mountain on the left completely broke off the wall.
Adam’s door does not have a valid reason only to lie and put the blame on the builder
I simply request a refund in this regard.
