I purchased an Alva camping gas geyser in November 2023, for use when camping and when there are water interruptions at home. The geyser stopped working (no flame ignition) about a month ago, I had a look to see if there was possibly dust or any obvious obstruction but couldn’t find anything. We booked the gas geyser in with Alva in Woodmead on the 15th July 2025 and explained that we would need it for a water shutdown and camping weekend, but have not had any feedback to date (29 July). I’ve tried calling the number provided on the book in slip, there’s no answer. I’ve called the office number and left messages for the person responsible, as well as other parties that could possibly assist, but no answer or returned calls there either. I’ve submitted an online query via the Alva website and sent emails (which I received read receipts from Tracy Theunissen) but still no response from Alva. I’ve purchased several Alva products over the last few years (a gas braai, 2 x patio heaters, an interior heater and a camping geyser) and the quality of the products has been sadly deteriorating over time with each purchase, with all the items failing within a period of two to three years, the camping gas heater most recently, only lasting one and a half years. My Megamaster gas braai from about 15 years ago is still going strong, and the Weber Q series I use for camping is still great after 4 years of use. I see Cadac now do a similar camping geyser. Sorry Alva, your products can’t be trusted any more, I’ll make another plan with a more reliable brand.

Bought their electric heater two months ago, bars just died one by one, when I try to report on Takealot was given email to contact the company directly but it's been two weeks with no response

Don’t buy a Blue-Flame Convection Roll-About Gas Heater. I purchased two of them. One arrived and didn’t work immediately. The second worked for a day and then stopped working.

I bought an Alva gas geyser about a year ago. It worked well initially but with time it started giving problems with ingnition. So at this stage it does not click and ignite at all. Also Makro, where I bought the Alva gas geyser, never informed me that there are no spares available in South Africa. So if it breaks hoe does one fix it? Not impressed at all!

If I could give Alva zero stars I would, customer service is absolutely trash! Bought a 12l geyser that is not even older than 3 months and it's been in for repairs already because the solenoid wouldn't turn. When it was brought back it still gives problems and now we can't get anyone from Alva to come back to us to take it back and give us our money back!

If I could give Alva zero stars I would, customer service is absolutely trash! Bought a 12l geyser that is not even older than 3 months and it's been in for repairs already because the solenoid wouldn't turn. When it was brought back it still gives problems and now we can't get anyone from Alva to come back to us to take it back and give us our money back!

After buying an Alva 16l water heater and setting it up, i sent it back to takealot. The Alva staff lie and say the device can work with a mixer, but on the website it says it doesn't work with a mixer, so then the water is too hot. They packed it incorrectly and sent it back to me,and said i should send it back, then refused to take it back. It seems like the solenoid doesn't kick in all the time to let the gas flow, which it didn't do before sending it in. Alva now says it doesnt have a warranty and they wont let me bring it to check it out. The device has water in and out, gas in and a battery.... Very little you as a user can mess with. A COC is to protect your property not protect a company from selling cheap junk. Probably better to order it directly from China and save money. Maybe its time to support Amazon instead.

Bought Alva heater from Alva on the 10/06/2024 and apparently it was supposed to be delivered on the 19/06/2024 - I don’t know it’s taking this long looks like the product will arrive in Summer by the look of things… poor service by their service desk, lady said it’s no longer their problem that the product it’s taking so long to get to me. They sent the item using internet express courier. This is the slowest courier experience I have ever experienced.

We bought a brand new Alva 3-panel luxurious infrared radiant indoor gas heater (grey) directly with Alva online on 13 July 2022. The heater worked well for 2 weeks, then started giving issues. I emailed Alva & told them about the issues the gas heater is giving: 1) Often, we cannot get it switched on at all. 2) Often, it eventually switches on, but the flame does not connect properly with the panels - so the panels don't heat up. 3) Sometimes we get it switched on, & it works well for a few minutes, then switches off by itself. One of the consultants whazzapp'd me & sent me a manual with instructions to try first. We did that, but the heater still did not work. (We are familiar with how gas heaters work, because we have been using them for many years.) We messaged them back to say that it is still broken, but did not hear back from them again. Then, shortly after - the heater stopped working completely. (We were not able to switch it on at all...& yes - we tried 2 different full gas bottles!) I chased them a few times, but they replied saying they will pass my message on to someone else. I told them that I want someone to come out to collect the broken heater & replace it with a new one that works, but to no avail. My messages were ignored. No one from Alva contacted me again or replied to any of my messages. My first complaint email to Alva was on 1 Aug 2022. We had to go through the coldest month in winter without any heating in the house, because they did not feel it was important get back to a customer. I have messaged them & emailed them again, saying that I will give them another chance to sort this out - if not, I will have to post negative feedback on HelloPeter. Unfortunately, no one responded - yet again. It is 25 Aug 2022 today - almost a month after my initial complaint, & we are sitting with a broken gas heater (which we have paid for), a cold house & a really bad taste in our mouths after dealing with Alva Lifestyle Retail. Do not purchase their products! It might be broken. And they will not respond to your complaints or give you the service you need. We will start a legal process if they still don't respond (& sort out our issue) after this complaint.
