This review is about my experience with Ambassador Doors and Windows earlier this year. (2025) We have used the company on 4 different occasions over a ten year period. Unfortunately the quality of the workmanship has declined dramatically. This year my bespoke doors and windows were manufactured to such a terrible standard that my interaction with this company which should have been simply the delivery of the goods ordered turned into several months of waiting, pleading and frustration. First off the bespoke stacking doors with frame and sidelight were made to an incorrect size and had to be remade in its entirety holding up the completion of our build, our ability to secure and use parts of our home and necessitating the return of the contractor. The unit that was remade to the correct size arrived but had numerous problems- like not running on the bottom rail and a door and a window from the same unite was so badly made that they had to be remade for a third time. It was clear that now one had checked before the item left the workshop and so started the next chapter. A section door had to be remade for a fourth time because an incorrect trim was used. Then came the numerous calls for Ambassador to come out to fix additional problems that could were not resolved before the work left the workshop or dealt with properly with one visit…. To the best of my recollection this was at least 5 times. Issues ranged from hardware that was affixed inconsistently, to improperly seals, to doors pulling skew. All the while I was expending time, money and energy on trying to get my doors to a working standard. Ambassador Doors and Windows had the attitude that because they were fixing their bad craftsmanship albeit over several months and as it fit into their schedule I should be grateful that they were doing it at all. There was no concern for the time, money, inconvenience and frustration they were causing and if they had spent the time they took defending their lacklustre product on a decent product this would never had happened. According to them I should not write a review about my experience because the matter had been resolved to a satisfactory result in March, but my review is about how what should have been a simple delivery of a stacking door turned into a very frustrating, time consuming and demoralising ongoing situation that meant dealing with a company that needs multiple remakes and visits over several months to produce a satisfactory result. Over the years we have used Ambassador Doors and Windows on 4 different occasions. We used to be very happy with the customer service, quality and craftsmanship however this is no longer the case. I can’t but wonder what qualifications and ability the workshop manager has and what has happened to their once highly skilled craftsmen. It is a real shame, I used to trust this company but I will never be using them again.

I hate writing reviews, never mind bad reviews but unfortunately I feel compelled to do so after the harrowing experience I had with Ambassador Doors & Windows. We used them for many years and were extremely pleased with their workmanship and the measurement and design team are excellent. Unfortunately the standard of their work and customer service has dropped dramatically. First the stacking doors were made to incorrect measurements and had to be remade, then the opening side lights and one stacking door had to be replaced because they did not fit properly, then the door was made with an correct trim that did not match the other doors. Then they had to refit all the doors in the frame….they had to come back 4 times to get it to an acceptable standard. It was an ongoing nightmare, of phoning, organising visits, trying to get the best team. This frustration lasted 5 months. It was farcical. All the time I was made to feel that they were doing me a favour by providing me with what I paid for and as this was the case I had to fit into their timeline… today I had to have other doors that they made before this last fiasco fixed- turns out that the door joints were pulling loose because their were large holes where the joints meet. I can’t help but wonder what has gone wrong with the workshop manager and the skill levels of the employees. So sad, I used to be trust this company, but unfortunately I will never be using them again.

I bought R288 000 worth of windows and doors form Ambassador Doors and Windows. When I collected the doors and windows everything was bubble wrapped. Off Load it at my house and as we offload it I saw scratches on my door. I reported it and Wesley phoned me and I drove the 90km from my house in Herm**** to Ambassador in the Cape, after they said I can come and get some touch up paint. As the builder installs the windows he showed me the 2 sliding windows are very very skew. And Ambassador never drilled the holes/place that the lock and pins need to go into the frame of the opposite sliding window. I also was not supp**** with the inserts that needs to be pop-riveted into the opposite frames. So I phone Wesley on the 13th of August and he said they will come and fix it. I did stressed that my house is now open because that windows cant lock. We agreed I will fit the door also and then he will send a team to check everything. So they installed the front door - same scenario. There are no holes for me to be able to lock the door. And it appears the lock is the wrong way around. It will be able to lock from the outside but not the inside. Hole drill outside not inside. I let Wesley know and asked him to come and sort out the front door and windows that can't lock. That was on the 18 of September. Then I Whattsapp him on the 19th to hear when they can come and fix their mess. My house stand is standing open. Wesley does not answer the whatsapp. Monday The 21 September - again Wesley has no reply. Tuesday I get through but it is some body else phone. He is busy He WhatsApp and phoned I can do the work myself. I said I can try but were are the inserts? No answer. From the 18th of September. I don't get a answer from Wesley. I Phoned and they said they'll make a plan. Phoned again today - 29 September and I keep on stressing I cant lock my front door and my windows. Keep on getting promises about them phoning back. Had a Aluminum Door installer today to come and fix the mess. He has to order the inserts and my door will be a mess because he doesn't understand how they installed the lock wrong way around. On top of that he actually doesn't want to touch the door because then it is his mess not Ambassador's anymore. I am very disappointed with their after service. The moment the door and windows were out of their store, and the R288 000 was in their bank account, I have been left with the problems that are theirs to fix. They have no after service and I am left utterly frustrated.

The final outcome of my door is now amazing and I love my door. But it was a long way to get there. The door has been delivered in terrible condition. Undeburred edges and corners! The surface wasn’t smooth to just paint on it. Not even the rubber for in between the door has been delivered. It’s not coming painted. I’m happy Ambassador at least installed it for me. I paid 45.000 for my door! I have been offered compensation but have to wait.

What a great professional team that installed my new white aluminium door. Door was perfectly made to size and well fitted. The keyless locking mechanism is really unique. Love it. They even tiled my loose patio tiles for me by my front door. Thank you to Paul, Henry and the team!
