Most amazing place to travel with kids and doggies.
We have been at Areena now two times and truly love it. The owner and staff are super friendly and all the rules which apply at the resort (such as no loud music after hours, no littering, behaviour etc etc) make it a very tranquil place to stay. But this doesn't mean you cannot get any action there. Kids can explore the resort freely, ride their bicycles, dogs are welcome everywhere (you have to book in advance for them and they charge a fee) they have 3 trampolines and lots of playgrounds available and lots of fun activities to choose from. Not to forget the semi tame giraffe Abby which rooms around freely and if you are lucky gives you a big kiss. Book a tour and they drive you through the game resort and give you the opportunity to feed him. (yes its a male) Amazing expperience!! You can stay rather on the camp site, in one of the rondavels or if you prefer it more quiet and not so rustic in one of the timber chalets right at the river banks. Bring your boat or book a canoe ride as the ocean is only 5km up the river. I'm sure it isn't as easy to manage a huge resort like this as a family business but they do and even though we had some hickups, what ever it was like the tv wasn't working, or the water tabs leaking the management was only a Whatsapp message away and always responded to it very quickly and mostly fixed it within the same day. We stayed in the Larks River chalet which was beautiful and we liked the fact that we didn't had right next door neighbors like in the Timber chalets. A private jetty was the highlight of this a house. We hope in the next years they will give this one a little bit of a needed touch up tough.

Disgusting
My 1st review was removed. I will continue to upload reviews on this establishment and not get tired. I still and will always stick with a 0 for this business. Your security guards and Owners are rude. The only person that seemed to be pleasant was willing to hear us out is the reception. I don't know what basis my previous review was removed on, but we have footage of the interaction between ourselves and the security guards and owner of this place, and I will be more than happy to share since it appears that my review was removed because there was no evidence. The people of this establishment need to know how to speak and treat Customers. I strongly believe that it's the black Customers that are subjected to this treatment. Again, I will keep reviewing. If Hellopeter would like the footage as proo, I will be more than happy.

This was the worst service I have ever experienced in my life. The amount of ****** we experienced in this place felt like we were in 1976. Even when we arrived and queued in to go play games we were treated like animals. It would have been better if you mentioned that you do not allow black people in your premises.

If it was possible, I'd give this place a complete 0. Disgusting service. I believe the owner and security guards of this place are ******. The level of rudeness runs so deep that they get the confidence to treat us like peasants from the owner. I will never recommend this place to anybody! Especially if you're black. Stay away!!!

Disrespectful and rude
I'm totally disappointed to say the least, we had arranged for an early check at the resort since we were traveling with kids and we wanted them to see the facility and enjoy time at the pool, were we not called out by the owner as "those people are liars" when he was communicating to the security guards who was instructed to tell us to leave and come back at 14:30 the check in time of the resort. The cherry on top had to be him instructing the security guy to come remind us that it's time to check out of chalet 15minutes before the time. Such behavior is truly appalling to say the least and he couldn't even bring himself to come and apologize to us as the entire group.

Aggressive driving in the parking lot
Just last week a white SUV with an old man driving it almost took out my stationary Audi at Retail Park. I was standing still waiting for a car that was busy parking opposite Hifi Corporation. Your impatient SUV decided to aggressively drive around the parking car INTO MY LANE to the degree where I had to let him pass me on the left and I had to swear into the oncoming lane. He saw me coming towards him yet still drove like a doos. I had my newborn baby in the car with me too, you *****. We will never be going to Areena again and will make sure that our family and friends hear of this incident too.

Owner and reception staff-extremely bad service
To be brief...paid about R1500 to stay in a cottage per night with no hot water!! Made an enquiry, only to have the very rude owner personaly come shout and degrade me infront of my family!! We hate this place!! Should be zero stars!!!
