On 9 June 2018 my booking at Ascott Bush Lodge was confirmed and full payment was made via credit card to the amount of R3450. Reservation dates 23 to 28 June 2018. Booking took place through Booking. com as I am fro Northern Cape and don't know area at all. The presentation as well as price was suitable to my needs therefore I confirmed and settled the amount. On 23 June at 05:23 I received a phone call from a male person from Ascott Bush Lodge asking if I already booked out of room 58. I told him we were on our way and will be booking IN today and not OUT. Upon our arrival at the Reception there was instant animosity when we enquired about a refund as the area was not suitable for my sister's health. The Lodge is situated in a area adjacent to the N3 highway. The city's rubbish dump is also in that area. Smoke from fires in the distance hangs in between the so called valley. The Responsible Person refuses to reimburse me. He was rude and kept on walking away. Upon returning he shifted the blame on booking. com. He didn' t want to listen to our explaination. All he said is he is going to loose his money and will have to pay booking. com back. When I wanted to cancel my booking with them they refused to do that because I have to do it with booking. com. Now that I want to cancel I notice that I will loose the whole amount because the cancellation is within 14 days?? Its 14 days that I've done the booking and I did pitch up to book in but the place was not to the standard as advertised.

I contacted the lodge Friday morning for accommodation for Saturday night- I knew the possibility existed that they might be fully booked. However, apparently they had availability, a proforma invoice would be send to me immediately and I would have to do an EFT to secure accommodation. In the afternoon, when I did not receive the mail, I asked my fianc? to call and confirm as I was in a meeting. When he called, the lodge did not know anything about my query or booking and didn't even have my details?! They were apparently fully booked and couldn't accommodate us. Amazingly enough, I had a missed call from Ascot Lodge Friday evening (about 20:30), which means somebody must have found my details somewhere.
When I mailed the lodge to complain about the service (or lack thereof), and how I will not recommend the lodge to anyone- I did not receive an apology or even assurance that this is not the way they do business - I received a sentence: \I very sorry to hear of this but I do wish you all the best for your upcoming wedding".
Basically"

we had a family emergency and needed accommodation in PMB.contact Ascot bush lodge whilst driving from JHB.gladly assisted us.checked in at 1.30am -14jul2015,paid for 2 nights accommodation.checked out at 12 midday on the 14thjul2015.funeral was moved to DBN.Cheryl has made every excuse in the book not to refund us for the one night.we used the accomadation for under 12 hours.no sympathy whats so ever towards our situation.there were a handful of units being occupied so in no way did we cause them a loss of income from the possible rental to another client.just plain greedy.the pictures on the website paint a false picture of the place as well.never ever will go back there or recommend to anyone

When going on the website the rooms really looks inviting - and makes you want to book here, so we did a full month in advance we booked and all arrangements was made to place in an extra bed for me an adult and we paid extra.
On our arrival at two they told us our room might not be ready yet. When I asked if our extra bed is there the Owner said no - so I said its ok we are going to the mall so they can take it down.
When we came back nothing was there yet - called reception and she send the owner down - he asked whats wrong? So I told him - the bed is not here yet, the air con we must turn on and off outside the house and no extra towels et. but he's response I HAVE GOT NEW STAFF - well then you should make sure your staff writes Hand overs so that everybody is aware of what is going on especially if you are such a hands on owner as what he tried to be - he was very rude. When the bed eventually arrived you could feel the mattress coils stick into your body - the second mattress was the same. Even that night in the restaurant which he also owns we got some very bad looks from his - wife or friend that was sitting with him - so obviously they discussed us amongst each other.
