****... The only good thing was how friendly the staff were... The food was absolutely ********** there was no cutlery on our tables when the food was served we had to ask the waitress for the cutlery we had no condiments on our tables but I noticed staff left condiments on the tables next to us for the other customers without them asking .. If you don't enjoy flavor this is the place of you

What an absolute pleasure I have to start. I'd never been to Asoka before, I've been thinking about it for the longest time. So, I decided to go, funny how I may have been writing this review from their establishment enjoying the soulful music and my mildly chilled glass of white wine. Nevertheless, having the pleasure of visiting this establishment what an honour to be assisted by Claudia. Empathetic & understandably amazing with her service. I felt really welcome by your brilliant service Claudia. Stay amazing. To Asoka... I loved every moment of my time there.

WHAT A JOKE!!! Don’t even bother. If you want to be disappointed, book at Asoka. They have a special on their website which has been advertised for a while. There are no terms & conditions for this special. I phoned the restaurant 3 weeks ago to find out how long the special is valid for and was told indefinitely, I asked whether the special was valid on weekends, I was told yes and with this I made a reservation for 5 people for Saturday 16 October. The reservation was confirmed via email by the restaurant. On Friday, 15 Oct I received a reminder from the restaurant via SMS and on Saturday afternoon I received a telephone call to reconfirm the booking. However, when we arrived at the restaurant, we were candidly informed by the waitress that the special was not valid on weekends. We were told that the decision had been made on 14 October by management to change the validity of the special to weekdays only. Never were we sent any correspondence of the changes, nor was I told in the text message or during our telephonic conversation that afternoon. The manager was determined not to honour the special, so we decided to leave only to be OVER CHARGED for our drinks. I MEAN, FOR REAL???? Complete rip off. They attract patrons with this “fake special” by not including the terms & conditions so that they can change the rules when it suits them. ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC!!

I have been wanting to try this establishment for quite a while .. So tonight my boyfriend and i randomly decided to get a bite to eat in town and remembered that we wanted to try asoka ... He then called and asked if there was a dress code . the lady adamantly said that t shirt and shorts are not allowed . he then asked OK, so will we not be allowed in ? And she said no .. Quite disappointed, we understood that there was a dress code , but we decided to head to kloof street anyway and find another spot to have dinner .. On passing asoka im horrified and quite angered to find people ,white gents in particular ,warmly welcomed, wearing shorts and t shirts and track suit top... We got a table at da Vinci's .. I then called asoka and spoke to the lady wanting to know why these people were allowed and we were basically told we were not welcome ..? She gave some story about how they are a bit lenient on quiet days but very strict on busy day ... Erm hello ? Its Friday night and asoka is packed .. So whats the excuse now ?? what type of discrimination is this ? I have mailed them on Facebook , it was read and blatantly ignored . i will never go back ..

<p>First off, I made a reservation a week in advance for two people (which we were advised was best considering how busy it gets). I never received confirmation or any communication at all regarding this booking, only to find out that my reservation was never placed on the day I was supposed to go (17 May '16). Upset, I spoke with the manager and he offered me a high chair seat. Once I got there, I met with this manager and he told me would try to get us better seats. However, he never followed up on us, but that was the smallest of our problems. I went to the toilet and felt uncomfortable with the staff who were situated back there because of their staring and as soon as I walked out of the toilet, one of the staff catcalled me, which was extremely inappropriate and unprofessional and made me very uncomfortable. At this point I was so uncomfortable that I didn't even want to go anywhere within the restaurant. The first dish we ordered, we were expecting dumplings, but were given tacos, which is vastly different from what we wanted. We had also ordered two dishes after that, but of course, we had to wait OVER TWO HOURS for these dishes. By that point, we had lost our appetite over the disgraceful staff and the unreasonable wait time. To be fair, the waitress was extremely kind and apologetic and told us that the manager would speak to us. However, we waited another 15 minutes after paying our bill, yet the manager never showed up. All in all, this was the worst dining experience I could imagine. I was horribly uncomfortable and extremely irritated. I had such high expectations, but Asoka managed not only to upset their customers, but also destroy their reputation. </p>

Was there for my cousins birthday last night, for the majority of us it was our first encounter at Asoka WOW what an experience. I have been to so many lounges in cape town and Asoka is the worst!! My judgement is on the bases of customer service. The lady that does the reservation completely messed up as she never explained the terms and conditions for reserving the main seating lounge area (correspondence done via email). Long story short we had to pay an additional R450 for \open food"as stipulated on the invoice only because we bought a bottle at the bar costing us R1200. After spending R3000+- in total for the night. <br> <br> To conclude the service is pathetic they are efficient in delivering product but lack people skills"
