Please do not think you are covered when you are insured by Asterio Medical. My nightmare started when I was involved in an accident on a golf course last year on the 31-5-2019. I was hit by a golf ball in full flight on my right eye bleeding profusely and not being able to see as my face was covered in blood I phoned Asterio Medical and requesting an emergency ambulance to ferry me to the nearest hospital for treatment. To my absolute dismay they never pitched and my playing partner then had to rush me to emergency unit of a nearby private hospital. Here I had to endure major discomfort and stress as it took Asterio Medical exactly 2 hours to provide a reference number to the Hospital before they could attend to me. I am thankful that my Eye was saved by an amazing specialist at Panorama Mediclinic but has to go now for an procedure to remove a cathartic that is developing fast on the damaged eye. This small procedure was scheduled to be performed early in November 2019 and although Astrio Medical did promise to authorize the expenses prior to the operation to be performed they failed to attend to the issuing of a authorization number . Its now early February 2020 and I am told every day to speak to the person responsible to issue a authorization number but to no avail. They are never available and every time I do phone in they promise to return my call but again to no avail. For me it is terrible as the vision of my right eye is now partially impaired now. I am now forced to pay for the procedure myself but will reclaim the cost of the operation and obviously lodge a claim for the Consequential Losses and Damages suffered as a result of the impaired vision.
