Over six months of follow-ups, nothing was fixed. I was told repeatedly that the owner had not responded, but when I eventually contacted the owner directly, they confirmed they had never been informed and were unhappy with the state the previous tenants left the property in. These matters should have been addressed using the previous tenants’ deposit, yet they were ignored and the owner cancelled their agreement with Astrodon as they should have managed this, and my lease ended. My deposit as a tenant is now being withheld because of disputes between Astrodon and the owner, leaving me unfairly caught in the middle. This is unacceptable service due to poor communication and lack of accountability.

Astrodon Real Estate presents itself as a values-driven company, but my experience has been the complete opposite. Their website promotes ideals they simply do not uphold in practice. Deposits are mishandled, leaving tenants and owners vulnerable, and their management style shows little regard for fairness or integrity. Instead of fostering trust, they exploit both property owners and tenants. They hardly reply to emails or take calls, make false promises, and hold tenants’ deposits hostage while owners are left frustrated with their mismanagement. Tenants’ deposits should never be tied to disputes between Astrodon and property owners, yet this is exactly what happens. I have never seen such immoral work ethic in the property industry. I do not recommend them at all. If you are currently with Astrodon, I strongly suggest looking for more reliable agents to handle your property and deposits.

Not even worth 1 star. This agency is a complete joke. I’m telling you now – NEVER rent from these people. I stayed in one of their places and the rent randomly went up by R200 every single month. I reported a water leak – nothing. I had to chase them multiple times just to get a useless response, and STILL no one came to fix it. From the day I moved in, there was no light in the bathroom because of a short circuit – guess what? That was never fixed either. Zero responsibility, zero effort. When I moved out, I scrubbed everything top to bottom – walls, cupboards – because I already knew how they love pulling charges out of their ass. The agent came for the inspection and everything was “fine” – no issues were mentioned. But surprise surprise, when I got my deposit invoice, suddenly there were all these made-up charges for “damage” that were never even mentioned during the inspection. Complete BS. Also, let’s not forget – general wear and tear is NOT legally chargeable, but clearly they don’t care about the law. Just another money-grabbing, ****my agency trying to rip people off. I’m now fighting to get my OWN money back. This is honestly the sh*ttiest place I’ve ever rented from in my life. Avoid them like the plague. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I am extremely disappointed with the way Astrodon has handled my rental deposit refund. Despite fulfilling my obligations as a tenant, they have refused to pay back my deposit and instead ********ly deducted R15,000 for so-called "repairs" that clearly fall under normal wear and tear. This conduct is unacceptable and goes against the Rental Housing Act, which clearly protects tenants against unfair and exploitative practices. It is evident that these deductions were made to enrich themselves at my expense. Then I was forced to go with their contractor and when asked to refund my money This was the reply I got: Unfortunately we cannot load any payments right now, as the finance department has left for the day. The lady loading payments will be on leave tomorrow, payment will be loaded on Monday. Astrodon has failed to act transparently, fairly, and in good faith. I strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with this company, as they do not respect tenants’ rights or the law. I will be pursuing this matter further with the Rental Housing Tribunal to ensure justice is served.

They are so *********** to the level of incompetency: I am an owner in a complex managed by them and I must say, they do as they please with our money. The littlest things are not done such as paying for the Security company religiously, cars are hijacked right in a complex, their monthly statements even confuse their own staff, they never even listen to trustees, arrogance at its best. I truly wish they can be exposed in a way. We are bleeding dry . From day 1 we were managed by these people and we were in debt from day 1. Imagine in a new development

We moved into a property in March 2024, managed by Astrodon and our rental agent. The lease agreement, the property advert, and the rules given to us all clearly stated that the property was pet-friendly. This was the basis on which we signed the lease and moved in with our dogs. In November 2024, we suddenly received a letter demanding that we remove our dogs and pay a penalty, with the threat that our dogs would be “forcibly removed” — which is ********. Our legal aid contacted Astrodon at the time, and we were told that a meeting with the trustees would take place in December 2024. That meeting never happened. Now, in July 2025, we received another email from Astrodon and our agent demanding that we either (1) pay a fine of R1000 per dog, (2) rehome our pets, or (3) vacate the property. This is unacceptable, especially since we have legal documentation proving we are within our rights. To make matters worse, our rental agent has been of no help. She did not fight for us, played dumb, and simply shifted the blame to the owners. Astrodon has also shown a complete lack of professionalism — the managing agents clearly don’t know what they are doing. They promise to call back, but never do. Instead of taking responsibility for their mistakes in providing the wrong rules from the start, they are trying to intimidate and penalize tenants who acted in good faith. This entire experience has been nothing but negligent, ***********, and unfair.

I recently vacated at IDube lifestyle Village, I was expecting my deposits to be refunded fairly. Instead, I was handed an inflated, unverifiable invoice from a company called West Side Construction - a name I cannot even verify as a legitimate business in Johannesburg. The charges included excessive painting costs, vague "repairs" and a laughably low interest return on my deposit despite it being held for over a year. When I asked for a basic proof - like a bank statement showing the deposits and interest earned, or their policy on how interest is allocated - I got nothing To anyone considering renting apartments from Astrodon- Don't. The numbers don't add up, the paper trail is non-existent and the experience leaves you feeling ****med. Bottom line: You will loose more than your deposit. you will loose your patience, your time, and any trust in their business ethics.
