I went to the GP at Augustine’s medical, and I left feeling extremely upset and dismissed. The doctor was very rude and didn’t take the time to properly acknowledge what was actually wrong with me. Instead of listening to my symptoms, he immediately assumed I was just another person coming in to ask for a sick note, which was completely unfair and unprofessional. I went there because I’m experiencing abnormal bleeding, severe pain, dizziness, and feeling completely drained. Instead of showing concern, he repeatedly asked me, “What do you want me to do for you?” which was shocking, because I came to a doctor specifically to seek medical advice and help. He then asked if I needed a sick note for work. When I said yes, because I genuinely feel unwell and cannot manage work in this condition, he responded by saying that this is the kind of thing people do and it’s not right to doctors. I felt like he was accusing me of being dishonest, when in reality I’m sick, exhausted, and struggling with pain. It was incredibly frustrating and upsetting to be treated this way when I was already feeling physically weak and vulnerable. A doctor should listen to patients and show compassion, not make assumptions or compare them to other people. I went there for help, not to be judged.
