Dear Avalon Springs Management, I’m writing to express my profound disappointment following a weekend stay at your resort from 11–13 July 2025. This stay was particularly meaningful to me. I’ve been visiting Avalon Springs since 1996 with my family, and it has always held a special place in my heart. As a parent now, I’ve made it a personal tradition to return at least once a year to share the same experience with my own children—including my newborn son, who is just three months old. Unfortunately, this visit was not the cherished memory I had hoped to pass on. What was meant to be a restful and nostalgic family getaway quickly turned into an uncomfortable and frustrating experience. Our weekend was marred by continuous disturbances—from persistent plumbing noises in the room to what sounded like furniture being dragged above us early every morning. When I contacted the front desk to raise these concerns, I was dismissed and told that I “couldn’t have heard anything” because the guest from that room was allegedly at reception at the time—essentially implying that I was imagining things or not being truthful. This response was not only unhelpful, it was disrespectful. After formally lodging a complaint, the only response I received was a dismissive “sorry.” No effort was made to genuinely acknowledge the inconvenience we endured, and certainly no attempt to make amends—despite the fact that this trip cost over R10,000.00. To add insult to injury, the mattress in our room was shockingly uncomfortable—clearly old and cheap—leaving both myself and my wife with sore backs and absolutely no proper rest. A resort like Avalon Springs should pride itself on hospitality, comfort, and heritage. Sadly, none of those values were evident during our stay. At the very least, I expected a good night’s sleep and basic courtesy when raising concerns. What we received was a total lack of accountability and care. For the sake of future guests and in the hope of preserving the legacy I once admired, I strongly urge you to re-evaluate how you handle guest complaints, your room maintenance, and your service standards. I believe a gesture of goodwill—such as a complimentary night’s stay or meaningful apology—is more than justified under the circumstances. I sincerely hope to see Avalon Springs return to the standard I once knew and loved. Until then, I’ll be reconsidering any future visits. Sincerely,

We had a terrible experience at Avalon Springs due to poor infrastructure. A glass shower door came off and cut my foot open, but there was no emergency doctor on-site. After waiting 45 minutes for an ambulance, we were told it could only take me to a government hospital, where I wouldn’t receive timely treatment. The resort’s main concern seemed to be taking pictures rather than assisting the injured. Management did not check on us during the wait, and we had to drive 2.5 hours to get proper medical care. It’s deeply concerning to think this could happen to another family, especially children in such a remote area. Since the incident in 2024, I have filed a claim only for my medical expenses, but Avalon Springs has not responded, shown any care, or taken responsibility. Refer P1344115 Clientele.

Family Alert: Terrible experience at #AvalonSprings , where I was injured the glass shower door came off and cut my foot open. There was no emergency doctor on-site, and after waiting 45 minutes for an ambulance, I was told I could only be taken to a government hospital, where I wouldn't be treated on time! The resort’s main concern was taking images, not caring for the injured. Management didn’t check on us at all during that 45 minutes wait. We had to drive 2.5 hours to get proper treatment. I feel terrible thinking this could happen to another family, especially if it could be children. Management only called the next day and hasn't followed up since. We checked out a day early and was told, sorry we won't cover any medical expense. Stitches and 3 week recovery, and my foot isn't back to normal.

I recently booked a classic family room at Avalon Springs, expecting a comfortable stay with a private balcony, as advertised. However, upon arrival, my family and I were dismayed to find that the room provided bore little resemblance to the description. Not only was there no private balcony, but the room resembled a standard hotel room, failing to meet the expectations set by the adverti*****t. Adding to our disappointment, when I raised the issue of the missing balcony, I was advised that I should have explicitly requested a room with a private balcony. This was puzzling, as the adverti*****t clearly stated "private balcony" under the classic family room description. To clarify, I even showed a screenshot indicating the specific mention of a private balcony for the family room, further underscoring the discrepancy between what was promised and what was provided. The resolution process was far from satisfactory. We had to engage with multiple managers, which only exacerbated our frustration. Initially offered a mere pizza as compensation, we felt further insulted when the resolution escalated to a paltry R500, hardly enough to offset the inconvenience and disappointment caused by the false advertising. To compound matters, when we requested to be moved to a room with a balcony, we were met with further delay. We were only relocated the following day, adding unnecessary inconvenience to an already disappointing experience. During checkout at Avalon Springs, I asked to speak to the manager and was met by Valda Muurman, the assistant manager. She promised to provide us with a complimentary voucher as our enquiry was not effectively handled. However, despite reaching out to her on many occasions, I have still not received the complimentary voucher. As a customer, I expect transparency, honesty, and accountability from hospitality establishments. Unfortunately, Avalon Springs failed to deliver on these fundamental expectations, resulting in one of the most disappointing holiday experiences my family and I have ever endured.

Where booking a view nights to celebrate our anniversary. Booking was cancelled after check in time due to flooding and we were half way at the springs. I had to make my own arrangements there after. They said they will refund our monies by the 15th of October 5 days later and en the GM is ignoring my emails. They are not sure why the funds can not be released but the batches has been load. Im following up with no feedback my whatsapp massages gets blue ticked. I will never ever make a booking directly with you again. I'll rather use lekeslaap for bookings at other pleases as they refund within 24 hours.

So me and family have been visiting Avalon springs for the past 20+ years and its been our local vacation place of choice always however over the past weekend myself and my wife visited and were excited to see the newly upgraded pools etc. To our shock we were given room 8b which had a straw roof feels like we stepped into a bungalow or a hut. The rooms walls in the corners was filled with webs and spiders, one of the pillow cases had small spots of blood and when lifting the pillow a disgusting fish moth ran out, we also found a half dead ****roach on the carpet floor and just the entire feeling was not was expected of a hotel room there was a cold draft coming either from the straw roof or windows im not even sure. Nevertheless looking forward to the pool we discovered there were no gowns in the room and requested some, coming to the pools the water was cold to luke warm i asked one employee if they can up the temperature and he gave me some story of the tap was turned open and it will get warm but that never happened, spoke to another employee and discovered that they actually are having issues with the hot water getting to all the pools and that dsnt seem like a easy fix but what makes me angry is that they dont bother to convey this to paying guests!! So me and my wife is at breakfast and see something walking on the floor and yet again a ****roach i just killed it and pushed it aside as im not one to make a spectical. Nevertheless we looked forward to getting some needed rest to our suprise inside our room it sounded like there were a group of 10 people just partying it up like we were in shared apartment. The party went on till 3am Saturday morning and again 6am and Saturday evening around 10pm it started again and we called to complain why are we hearing this people so clearly and they said they were going to send security but they never did quiet down. During the night another fish moth fell from the roof onto our bed.We left miserable and disgusted NEVER EVER TO RETURN AGAIN!!!!

New name should be Montagu & Avalon COLD pools The water was ice cold, No signs or information mentioning the pools arent heated anymore. When i was there last time the water was warm, but this time the staff said theres an issue with the pools or pumps but no signs saying anything as such & no-one acknowledged the dissatisfaction. I will never recommend both Montagu & avalong COLD springs.
