Date of Visit: December 17, 2024 Location: Canal Walk Shopping Centre, Cape Town, South Africa Service Requested: Repair of tactical boots (replacement of both zips) Experience: I visited the Barksole branch at Canal Walk Shopping Centre to have my tactical boots repaired. The issue was with the zip line on the boot, which had torn by the material. I requested that both zips be replaced. The owner, who assisted me at the time (though I did not know he was the owner), assured me that the repairs would be completed by the next day. – Zak Marais Day of Disappointment When I returned the following day to collect my boots, I was informed that they were not ready and that I should come back after 5:00 PM. This was frustrating as it had not been communicated to me the previous day. I returned on December 31, 2024, to collect my boots, only to find that the zips had not been replaced as requested. Instead, only a repair had been done on one of the boots. Frustrating Follow-Ups Irritated, I requested a refund since the repairs were not carried out as agreed. The assistant on duty that day, who was different from the previous one, informed me that he had only been instructed to repair one boot. I completed a refund request form and handed it over to the assistant, who said he would inform the owner and that the refund would be processed within three days. On January 4, 2025, I contacted the store via their WhatsApp number to inquire about the refund. Unsurprisingly, the payment had not been made, and I had to follow up again. Instead of receiving an apology for the poor service, I received no response. It was only the next morning that I finally received my refund. Recommendation: 1 out of 5 ⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5) I find this service absolutely unacceptable. For a company like Barksole, which is well-known in Cape Town and presumably across the country, this is not the level of service I expected. Instead of replacing the zips as requested, they only performed a partial repair on one boot. I cannot recommend this business or their services. Barksole’s reputation in Cape Town does not align with the service I experienced. The lack of clear communication, failure to follow through on repair requests, and poor customer service in handling the refund process left much to be desired. This experience has led me to strongly advise against using their services at Canal Walk for any shoe repair needs. I rate my experience at a dismal 1 out of 5 stars. There are undoubtedly better alternatives for quality and reliable service in the area. https://zakmarais.co.za/2025/01/05/review-of-barksole-shoe-company-1-out-of-5-%e2%ad%90%e2%98%86%e2%98%86%e2%98%86%e2%98%86-1-5/

I took a pair of Barker leather shoes to Barksole Somerset Mall and asked for them to be soled and heeled with leather soles I was advised and agreed to a leather half sole and heels I was told they would be ready on the following Wednesday I actually went to pick them up on the following Thursday Having made a round trip of 80 km I was told they weren't ready I received a phone call a few days later telling me they were ready When I made a further 80 km journey I looked at the shoes which had plastic type soles The man in the shop told me leather soles had to be specially ordered and there was nothing they could do about the mistake I had paid R450 when I took the shoes in I took the ruined shoes and left the shop Bitter lesson learned If there was a zero rating I would have used it

I took in a pair of shoes for repair in April 2024. The glue had come off on the sole so it needed re-application of the glue. The guy who helped me suggested he stich the shoes so they become durable, to which I agreed. Upon collection, I discovered the shoes no longer fit me as they have shrunk. I have since been visiting the outlet as they went on to re-stich and replace the soles and the shoes still do not fit me. I had already paid for the repair so they offered to refund me my repair costs, which they honored. They went on to get the shoes stretched and still the shoe do not fit me. The final update I got from the manager is that there is nothing further that they can do about the issue and it was indicated to me that I brought my shoes in for repair at my own risk. What kind of consumer service is that? Surely this cannot be legal from a consumer act perspective.

I took my leather long length boots to Barksoles in Blueroute mall Tokai to have it shortening. The job was poorly done that I returned it on two occasions due to inner scratching on calfs. It was in July and I'm still without my boots. I just phoned in to inquire since I never get any feedback, I was kept on hold until I had to hang up. Terrible service and bad customer service 😑

I wish I could give zero stars. I took my beloved Kate Spade bag to the Tygervalley branch. The shoulder straps were fraying at the edges from wear and slightly cracked. It was sent to their factory to have the straps covered They had my bag for 2 weeks or so and I received a message that it's being returned to Tygervalley I must collect it and bear in mind nothing was done. Not too bad so far. When I collected my bag I nearly had ten collective strokes. It looked as though a bear had chewed the straps. What was slightly frayed and cracked is now literally ripped and broken. I immediately said to the man that the bag was not in the condition I handed it in. He proceeded to tell me that's why I brought it because the straps were worn. Ummm yes worn not completely mangled. I phoned the factory "manager" who asked for pictures and then proceeded to tell me that everything goes through her in the workshop and that's how they received it. They told me they didn't have black to cover it (?) or a machine to stitch it and they didn't want to risk working on such a high value bag. So not only did they do nothing they returned the bag to me 100x worse than how I handed it in. My daughter took one look at the bag and asked me what on earth did they do to your bag? I'm absolutely fuming. They are now called Cobbler and Co and I will trust a starving dog with my roast chicken dinner before I trust them with anything again. Pathetic, unprofessional, useless and downright disappointed on this disgusting treatment of my belongings and me. They have list a customer for life and if you value your shoes, bags, belts or anything take it elsewhere but these people are charlatans 😡😡

I took my pair of brown boots to Barksole Cape Gate in April 2024. It was one of my favorite pairs and although I had it for a couple of years, it was still in good condition except for the toe piece which was badly scuffed. I originally wanted them to put a steel piece in but they weren't able to do that. They said they would only be able to cover it with a piece of leather and stitch it up nicely. I asked whether they could send me a pic of what it would basically look like which they did. I then noticed a bit of peeling on the boot but because it was small I didn't bother about it and told them it looked fine and they must go ahead. When I finally went to collect it, I was shocked to see how badly my boots were peeled. I stood there in total disbelief. I asked them what had happened to my boots and that it wasn't like that when I brought it in. The lady then told me it was, but on the WhatsApp chat, they told me it was probably damaged when they were fixing it. I then told them that if that was the case, then they should have informed me that it began peeling badly, then I would not have gone ahead with the repair. They are refusing to give my R200 back which I paid for the deposit. The manager sent me video footage of me bringing my boots in, saying I'm the only one that handled my boots. I then took a screenshot and told her that there the boots were not peeled. She didn't seem to listen to any reason and adamant that work was done and that I have to pay. After I said to her that I could either ask her for R600 for damaging my boots, or she must pay the R200 back, or if I should take the matter further, to which she rep****, Go ahead. She also rep**** that I should not contact her again unless it's a court case number and date. I also went to their website to find out who the main manager is. Dialled the service number, but it didn't even ring. Phoned Canal Walk branch and got Rob's number, but it went to voicemail, left a message yesterday afternoon and I still haven't received any call back. Such disappointing and sad service! info@barksole.co.za

I purchased a new pair of shoes and took it to Barksole, Tygervalley on the 24 April 2024. It was only to have the straps shortened at their factory. I have been into the store and have made contact with the factory and yet to have any news on when my shoes will be ready. It is nearly 1 month later!!! What a pathetic business, no wonder they change their name to Cobble & Co... PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR SHOES TO THEM!!

I gave them boots to put in new sole on the 18 March they told me it takes a week because they must order the part. On 8 April my wife went there to get the boots but on her arrival they didn't even start work on the boot. They only put glue on the boot. Next day the boot was courier d to me. Yesterday on 15 April I wore it and the sole was off they didn't see it they put glue only. Im very disappointed at Barksole N1 City they don't care about customers or they took a chance because I send a female that's why they did short cuts.
