After leaving a review regarding the service I received from Barsons Tokai on Google, I was asked to contact them. Today, 30 January 2026, I attempted to do so as requested, and once again, my call went unanswered. This is not the first attempt, and the continued lack of response reflects extremely poor service; it is truly pathetic

Bad service, unorganized and unprofessional lady in the service department. My car came from a service not the same (worst underlying conditions) than it went in for.Won't recommend anyone to take their vehicle for a service by Barons Tokai.

I have always had my VW serviced at Barons Tokai only because it is close to my house. I never had serious problems with them but their communication was always poor. My car now has a major fault so I tried to book it in with them and they said they are fully booked for the next month and I must go elsewhere. What made me angry was their attitude after years of supporting them. Their attitude was more like, we have no interest in your problem, we are not even going to try and help you, do not phone us again and go else where. So that is exactly what we are going to do and advising everybody else not to support them.

On July 4th, 2022 I booked my car in for his 120 000km service, I have a service plan for my car. Since I got my car I always got my car serviced at Barons Tokai and had no issues so far with them, however this time it was different. As I mentioned I have a service plan for my car, I booked my car in at 7 am the morning, and I then got a call from Baron's at 12 pm saying that they saw my wheel alignment was out, should they correct it, I then said no, to leave it, they then said okay and ended the call. A few hours went by and heard nothing from them, I called and asked them how far is my car, as I had to work from home due to my car being in for it's service, they told me that they waiting on my service plan to be approved, I then said okay and hung up. A few hours went by and they called back saying that my water pump has a tiny hole in it and needs to be replaced, and would cost around R7000, and then my Top shock mountings needs to be replaced and cost around R6000, I was shocked at the prices and was told that they won't include labor as my service plan can cover that, I then told them I will call them back to let them know. I then did my homework and called Goldwagen, and priced the parts that Baron's said needed replacing. The top shock mountings at Goldwagen were going for R179 per part(at Baron's over R6000), and the water pump was going for R3500(at Baron's over R7000), now you tell me how does that make sense for Baron's to inflate their part prices by that much...... I then called Baron's back and told them to just do the service on my car that my service plan covers, nothing more, they then agreed BUT said they still waiting for my service plan people to approve my service to be done, I was shocked as it was already 1 pm, and they advised my car will have to be left by them and worked on the next day, I was not happy with this, as that meant another day working from home. The next day (5th July) I called my service plan and asked them why wasn't my service plan approved, they then advised that it was already approved same day at 12pm (4th July), I was so irritated with Baron's as they lied to me regarding the reason why they never got my car done. So they first want to inflate prices then they lied to me regarding why they never got my car done on time.

Dealt with "Keagan" via online enquiry. My contact who was going to view the vehicle on my behalf didn't make it in time and the vehicle got sold. Keagan was polite enough and informed me via WhatsApp. I thanked him for informing me and requested that he keep me in mind should another vehicle of this brand come through his doors..... I was met with a snotty reply of "OR SHOULD I".... I asked him what he meant by this. And he replied that should he basically even bother informing me. Quite professional KEAGAN. Keep it up. Glad I didn't do business with you with an attitude like that. @ Mr Dealer Principle of Barons Tokai........ Pls send your saleman Keagan for some online etiquette and professionalism training..

Not happy with the service I received from this branch and VW SA. They refused to replace a battery under maintenance plan due to the battery not meeting their criteria even though an inspection was done on the car before loading a VW maintenance plan. I also requested that as part of the service that they do a wheel alignment and wheel rotation. Upon inspection when I got home, I noticed that they did not do the wheel rotation even though it was paid for. I had to return the next day to have it done. I have told family and friends about my situation and they also said that customer service from VW SA is not good in general. Barons Tokai claims they also only give 5 star service but my last experience was definitely 1 star.

I bought a polo in 2018 feom Barons Tokai . Since day 1 it has been problems, firstly they sell products and lie about the services which policies offer for example the maintenance plan and the service plan never ever delivered what was promised by the salesman , I've been very disappointed by the service recieved from the branch. The don't not service the vehicle correctly. It's always a problem with my policy when servicing and repairs need to be done . They never call to tell me the vehicle is available for collection it's always I have to call in and then I find out the car has been done for hours . I request call back then a week later I'm still waiting for a call back . They sold me a car with damage on the bumper and refuse to repair it . The promised full coverage of anything on my vehicle I specifically remember asking the salesman that to give me a policy that will cover everything the car would need , his response was " dont worry Mr Southgate the only they the policy doesn't cover is the fuel in your tank and tyres" but every year I have to pay out of my pocket for a alignment. They sold me a scratch and dent which was never registered with the company I am still trying to get repairs done on this vehicle, everything that needs to be done is like pulling teeth . Why must it be so different to get what I paid for . I would just like to say I love the Volkswagen group I have 3 VW vehicles I own, but the service and headaches I have to go threw when dealing with the branch is always l a nightmare.
