Bought a battery at First battery on 14th August 2025( Raylite 641C),all was well until late December, the battery went dead,we took it back to First battery Silverton, we were told excuses and they requested us to contact their head office, which we did and were advised to leave the battery at the Silverton branch, even today the battery is still at head office for testing and the person we were in contact with from head office no longer answer our calls but answer calls of different number, just imagine R2155.00 down the drain, the unfortunate part is we've heard a lot of people (taxi operators)complain about the same issue we're currently experiencing,we currently don't have a battery and because my husband needs a battery for work we had to take out the battery from our van (which I use) now I don't have a car to use because of battery center Silverton

I bought AGM battery which comes on 3years warranty in Old road Midrand branch. When I bought this battery, it was confirmed that it's AGM supporting the start & Go of my car but the battery stopped supporting that function just when it reaches 2yrs. At first I thought there was something wrong with my vehicle until I sent it to Mercedes for its service and it picked the main battery to be low. I went to battery center where I bought it, they checked the battery and said it shows that it's still healthy. They decided to lend me their old battery so to keep my battery over a week for charging. The vehicle start & go was functioning very well with the borrowed battery. I then returned their battery so to get mine and it's still not supporting this function. Honesty I felt so disappointed for the fact that the battery comes on 3yrs warranty but the way I'm getting treated seems someone is taking a ride on me. I turn to ask myself if it's because I'm a woman or what... I regret why haven't I just waited for Mercedes battery order instead of this struggle.. I've already been to the store 3 times because of this matter still with no luck. And first day when I got there I found another client with the very same vehicle made as mine with the very same complain that the start & go has no longer in functional. It seems this batteries are not having enough power for this function, that's why it doesn't sustain it long. I mean this start & go stopped exactly when the battery reaches 2yrs. I've even told them I never experienced such with the previous Merc battery. One guy wanted to shift the blame to Auxi****y and it's unfortunate that's still in good condition as I bought it the very same week when I buy this main battery. He even went extra miles on testing my Auxi****y and it was confirmed to be very healthy as it was already been diagnosed at the dealer but it seems they didn't trust me. What I need to understand is that How does warranty work if here I'm encounting a fault with your battery 🤔 Can someone advise on this matter as a matter of urgency please. I really can't be expected to gets stuck on this as if I am driving a normal car, no more comfortability in it. I really don't feel it if you understand what I mean... Juliet

on 29th December 2025 I called Battery Centre in Moore Road, Durban at 08h00 on a Tuesday morning and a young man called Jeandre arrived within 30 minutes with a new battery. He proceeded to remove my old battery and fit and check the new one very quickly. He was very polite, respectful and when it was time to pay, he produced his portable device and it was all done with no fuss. After dealing with various disastrous episodes, one of which being the Licensing Department at Rossburgh, he was like a breath of fresh air.

Battery baught 10 months ago..they refuse to replace it even though it is under warrenty. They say they will keep it a few days to replace but do not do rental / lend battery. So how must the car drive? First Battery Centre Bloemfontein

On 18 February the Battery Centre refused to replace my battery which was still under warranty, claiming that it had been tampered with because of a tiny dent on the terminal. They also expected me to wait there for 6 hours while they charged it, even though it was fully charged. ( I had it checked at two other centres.) Initially they tried to hide the test result from me by talking around it. They also stated falsely that 'an alternator does not charge a battery '! ( Also tested at different centre.)

I received a call yesterday from battery Center, I’m not sure if an MTN cell number is a call number and they were telling me I’m spreading lies And I went and did my research and for S**** Surcharge: Retailers charge an additional fee (e.g., R304.75 or more, depending on the battery type) if you do not provide an old battery at the time of the new purchase. And I provided the old batteries

I went to the Midrand branch a couple of months ago to test my battery as it kept on failing and it was said that it requires a replacement because the health was bad. I pointed out that the warranty is still valid as it was purchased in Jan 24 and has a three year warranty. They stopped being helpful because they wanted me to purchase a new battery instead of a warranty claim saying that they needed the original invoice for the purchase which is impossible as I purchased the vehicle with the battery already there. I then left and about a month ago, I went to the waterfall ( midrand ) branch with the same exercise and they directed me to the same Midrand branch mentioned above. It is not right that one of first battery center's selling propositions is a warranty that clearly no dealer wants to honor
