REVIEW: BEAUTY FIRES
Not a great Experience.
We started our journey with Beauty Fires by reacting on an advert on Facebook. I requested a quotation for a fireplace unit. They suggested that I send them my building plans.
So I sent through the plans and photos inside and outside of the area and house where we would like to install the unit.
I then decided to drive to Beauty Fires with the plans and photos to have an in-person discussion with Richard from Beauty Fires. A week passed without receiving the quote as promised by them.
After following up with Beauty Fires on the status of the quote, I found out that Richard was on leave. I then spoke to Jamie who gathered the information to prepare the quote for us.
On receiving the quotation, I made two follow up calls to get more details and have all my questions answered. We then accepted the quotation in writing.
We then got told that our property will get inspected by Richard. Richard came for a site visit and all was in order.
The next day we received a new quotation that was more expensive than the previous one. This was after I gathered the funds and did my budget planning for the product and installation. I called Beauty Fires and explained to them that according to me they were conducting business the wrong way around. They should have come to my property first to give a more accurate quotation.
The other shock with regards to the way they do business is that you need to pay the full amount upfront. There is no deposit so you’re already in the losing end if something goes wrong.
Upon arrival two teams arrived, Beauty Fires and Hardcore drilling (Hardcore Drilling provided excellent service!!). The guys from Beauty Fires were friendly but could not always answer my questions. I had to call the office a few times to get my answers. We have vinyl floors and one of the concerns was that there is no floorplate supplied.
During my initial visit to Beauty Fires we did discuss the floorplate and Richard suggested that we don’t go with the glass because of the dust that gets trapped underneath and to rather go with the other option rather than the glass option. I said to him then I’ll take his advice and go with the plate. On installation day this never arrived. I called Richard during installation and he said that he couldn’t send it yet because the unit needs to be further away from the wall and they would then have to re-measure it after installation was finalized, which I accepted.
The installation guys from Beauty Fires took a break and went to Spar. While they were gone I found a half-eaten oily sandwich on my furniture. I took a picture of this. One of the installation guys also borrowed a Victorinox knife to cut a tomato, however never returned the knife and took it home with him.
I also had to show them where the already installed plate was loose, they were going to leave it as is. They then fixed it after I pointed it out.
After installation the guys packed up and I called Richard again to ask about the plate and when will we be able to use the unit without damaging the vinyls. He then told me that the plate was never included and that I had to order it. I was unhappy.
This morning I received another invoice for additional charges, whice included the floorplate and bends for the flute. There was also credit provided for the section of the flute not used. I called Richard again and mentioned a couple of the above dissatisfaction factors. Richard explained to me how this is all human error and this is how things work in the building sector. I’m a project manager and this is not the way I’m used to doing business.
I warn customers and suppliers against Beauty Fires. They sell top quality stuff, but make sure you budget much more than the original quote and know that your in for an unwelcome experience.
