This is a review of Manfred who specialises in Mercedes Benz, Audi and BMW cars. He used to work for Sportline in Amalgam Johannesburg and came highly recommended, so I called him to sort out my car. I bought a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lerado. The car was stuck in limp mode and the engine had no power, lots of black smoke and It was also stuck in 2 or 3rd gear. Manfred came and told me the engine needed new rings, bearings and that he would be able to sort out the problems on the Jeep. I gave him the car 2 weeks before Xmas 2023. He proceeded to strip the car, I bought all the spares and by March 2024, I expected the Jeep to be ready. His workshop was located in Langlaagte which was close to my work. One day when I went to check on the Jeep, I was told by the workshop owner that Manfred had taken the Jeep to a workshop in Roodepoort. I kept asking for updates on the Jeep and I was told he was test driving it and it had some problems. This was a lie, as the engine wasn't assembled yet. I kept asking him to come so we could test drive it. Every week he would promise to finish it and without fail, he would never keep any promises. Months later, he told me the car was brought closer and was now in Industria, when I saw the Jeep, it was just a heap of junk. The engine was still being put together. He had outsourced the assembly of the motor to Matamba and the Jeep had lots of missing parts. It will cost me money now to get the Jeep up and running as fuel, hydraulic and coolant pipes are damaged or missing. I had the Jeep towed to another mechanic who had to source the missing pipes at a cost of R3k. I contacted Manfred because the Jeep had all the pipes and drove to his workshop. He didn't answer my calls or reply to my messages. This has been my worst experience with a mechanic in my life. Manfred cannot be trusted. You struggle to get a hold of him, leave messages and still no resolution. He will promise but he never keeps any of his promises and has failed on all of the key objectives on this project. Please don't give him any work, rather find another trusted & reliable mechanic to work on your car.
