Based on recent customer reviews, bidorbuy (Bobshop) faces significant criticism across multiple areas. Sellers report frustration with delayed or failed payouts, rising fees, and unhelpful customer support. Buyers raise concerns about inflated pricing, counterfeit listings, and poor warranty resolution. A recurring complaint involves the removal of negative seller reviews without consulting buyers, undermining trust in the ratings system. The courier service is described as unreliable. While one loyal customer praised safe transactions and smooth refunds, the overwhelming sentiment reflects a platform struggling with operational and trust issues.

I’ve been selling and buying items on Bobshop for almost 10 years. My agonies started with the R30 that sellers have to pay (for orders over R100) for the shipping. Losing money on almost every sale, and I can’t increase my prices, otherwise my customers will look elsewhere. Then they removed the ‘Recent Sales’ tab, which I frequently used as both a buyer and seller. Why would you remove it? Then last week days they have started removing quantity indications next to product categories, which is super-annoying both as a buyer and seller. Also, they now list all the categories for each seller, whether you have those products or not. Now it looks like you as a seller can’t be bothered about listing items? I only use about 5 different categories when listing items, but every single one gets displayed, and if you click on them, nothing. It looks bad. Dear Bobshop, it’s all in the details! I’ve already sent several suggestions to them about this, but as expected no response. It’s still the best platform for selling items online in SA, but it feels like they are just changing things for the sake of changing things. Sound fami****?

I gave this guy "Visuallife Gaming Tech" a bad rating because the service I received was terrible BidorBuy contacted me and asked whether I was happy with the product (which is a different issue all together)and swiftly removed my rating. I have been a member since 2004 and I cannot believe this. What is the reason for rating a seller then? The service I received still sucked and I will never buy from "Visuallife Gaming Tech" again and will recommend you don't either. I think it's time to rethink using BidorBuy in future as the ratings are skewed and cannot be trusted

I have not shopped on bidorbuy for a long time and decided to give it a try again. Boy what a disappointment. Really inflated value prices on rather cheap products so people think they are getting a bargain. I have found that people are buying cheap stuff on Temu and selling it at inflated prices here. Please take a photo of what is being advertised here, check the price on Temu or google and get a proper market related price. Then you know wgat the item is really worth. Shopping here has left a bad taste in my mouth.

I have been a member of Bidorbuy since 2007, and my experience has always been very good. Over the last 6-12 months, dealing with Bidorbuy has been nothing short of a nightmare. The people on the other end of the phone are not only hostile but also very unhelpful and uninformed. I had problems with ratings, payments and mostly with their new COURIER service. The courier service is a nightmare. They either come late, or with an attitude and some of them don't even know what they are doing. Bidorbuy is not the company they used to be. They are really moving backwards. They should pull up their socks ASAP or they will also become a distant memory!!!!!!!!

I reported a suspected counterfeit TAG Heuer watch listing on Bid or Buy and provided details to their security team. They acknowledged my report, thanked me, and closed the ticket, stating they would “follow up accordingly.” It has now been three days since my report, and the listing is still live. As a consumer, this lack of visible action raises concerns about whether Bid or Buy takes proactive steps to protect buyers from counterfeit goods. Transparency and timely intervention are essential to maintaining trust in any online marketplace.

Very bad customer service. No one seems to know what they are doing. Sold an item on an auction on Wednesday. I shipped the item to the customer and then requested a payout. Then I had to verify my identity and was told I have 2 accounts on Bidorbuy. I was not aware of the other one, apparently someone else managed to use my ID and create a account. I was told that there were outstanding fees on the account that I know nothing about nd I must first pay that then I would be able to withdraw my money. I paid it and told them to remove the other account that wasnt mine. I thought I would then be able to withdraw the money. After many emails the verification process was complete, but when I tried to withdraw I was told I dont have enough to withdraw. But my closing balance was R334.49.I am very frustrated with Bidorbuy. It never used to be so difficult to get paid out. I have sent another email, but haven't received a answer yet .

Gave a seller Negative review corresponding to the level of service and product received only to get a mail stating they have removed the negative review and im now blocked in giving this seller a negative review. the fact you alter reviews without actually contacting the buyer to find out xyz why it was there in the first place and you removing due to seller asking what is the purpose of the review system then if you can just remove reviews as you see fit. you are condoning these individuals to then sell products as good working only to find defective products is that what you are now another facebook market place now
