CABIN ROBBED!!!! We booked 2 chalets at brookwood trout farm on the weekend of 12-14th January 2018. On the Saturday evening while braaing at the upper chalet, our fisherman chalet was broken into - even though the 2 units are no more than 50meters away from each other...perhaps if there was ANY lighting whatsoever, we may have been able to see the robbers and prevent it. They broke through the flimsy door lock easily with a *****driver - There is no security gate...in fact there is no security on the property at all! Our wallets/cellphones/bags/clothes/car and house keys/sun glasses etc were stolen from the chalet...a total of +- R20 000 worth of goods were stolen. We had to go squeeze into our friends chalet for the evening as our door could not not lock. The following morning we walked the property hoping to find some of our belongings, with no luck, but we did find numerous broken fences around the property. We then had to ask Brookwood management to call the police, which they finally did. The owners seemed more interested in changing the broken lock on door than anything else - They obviously weren't interested in the police taking finger prints or anything off the door and lock? Now a week after the incident and after numerous emails and messages regarding the incident, brookwood have completely ignored me! In fact the investigating officer informed me that Brookwood management take no responsibility whatsoever for the incident - they have wiped their hands clean of the incident like it never happened. Now we are 20K down, and no compensation at all has been offered, no accommodation refund...absolutely nothing! Thank God nobody was hurt, but if you value your belongings and your loved ones lives, i would recommend staying far away from Brookwood trout farm. I have been informed that the neighboring farms have had several incidents recently, so be aware! Rather choose an establishment with some kind of security, as there are no security guards, no beams, no lighting at all around chalets, boundary fence is falling over in numerous places etc...and an establishment where management actually takes responsibility for your safety while paying to stay on their property.
