I am a very disgruntled client writing to warn other consumers about the absolute pathetic service provided by Bugs and Sparks. I am in the process of selling my house and this company was recommended by Eazi Homes to do an electrical, gas and plumbing inspection. Late the Friday afternoon they left after finishing their inspection and my son told me that the plugs in his room was not working. I went to check at the Db board and found some switches was not turned back on. On Sunday when I wanted to take meat out the freezer I was hit by an awful smell. All my meats in the freezer was off as the staff of Bugs and Sparks did not turn it back on. After emailing their office and informing them of what happened they blatantly refused to acknowledge their incompetence. They refused to refund me for my meats and I basically lost thousands of rands. I also noticed the Monday the grass was wet in my yard and it wasn't raining. I had a local handyman come out and he found that there was a burst water pipe. I immediately had to call the council to come and repair the burst pipe. This is another thing that Bugs and Sparks did not pick up on. This company is ********* and *********** to say the least.

Bugs & Sparks was contracted to complete work at my home, and the result was nothing short of catastrophic. Their workmanship was careless, their team unqualified for the job, and the aftermath left me with tens of thousands of rands in damage. Their installer broke my solar panel during the job, incorrectly installed the new geyser (causing a major water leak), and failed to seal the system properly — resulting in my ceiling collapsing and significant damage to my home and personal belongings. When I contacted them urgently for assistance, they were dismissive and slow to respond. Despite clear evidence of negligence, they accepted no responsibility. I have been left to foot the bill for all repairs while their insurer drags out the process with zero communication or resolution. I went out of my way to make sure everything was repaired to protect the new homeowner — something they should have done. Instead, I’ve been met with silence, avoidance, and continued costs. If you’re considering using Bugs & Sparks, ask yourself what you’d do if something went wrong. Because when it does — and in my case, it absolutely did — you will be left completely on your own. Use at your own risk. And be prepared to clean up their mess alone.

They were quick to come out to do the inspections and on time as well. They are a bit anal about very small issues which might be a money making tactic or they are just working really well to the book. No real complaints on this. The real issue is communication. You have to phone Tashreeq everytime you have a question since he does not reply to emails. On all instances I have give Tashreeq a full business day to respond. When I phone him you can clearly get the idea that he has never even opened your email.

This company takes your money to do inspection - meaning they are aware they are coming to inspect work which was NOT DONE BY THEM. After the inspection they will find something - anything to provide you a quote for repairs. The pricing in the quote is overpriced, but you are now forced to have them do the repairs because they quickly claim that they do not issue COC certificate on work THEY DID NOT DO... but funny that they would have issued you one if there was no faults on your home for WORK THEY DID NOT DO. They do not allow you to have repairs done yourself, or to even supply the materials required for the work, because they want to overcharge you and make money on that. And even if you are willing to pay for another inspection fee for them to come out and inspect a second time, they say they wont and they will not issues COC at that stage even if the home will pass.

Do not use this company, they will squeeze ur for money & try to put u into a corner forced to pay their overpriced quotes!!! They claim they offer COC certificates but really they take ur money, then force u to ONLY use THEM for repairs! I did the mistake of not reading reviews! All my communication was done over whats app, including cost, date, description of property, etc. I wanted a booking for a Wednesday & they only had 4pm slot open, & when I said that my domestic leaves by 4:30pm they said no problem, 30 min is more then enough to do all 3 inspections... which already sounded to me a bit rushed, but ok. So my husband said he rather be there when they do inspection & speak to the person who comes out before they do the inspection to make sure we are all on the same page. The day of the inspection the person showed up 12:30 by surprise and someone on whats app asked can he go now, I rushed my husband home from work & asked them to wait until 1pm. My husband specifically asked how the process works & should there be faults would he be able to repair the faults pointed out, & the inspector said yes for a call out fee, that they would then return & double check that all is done correctly. Based on that the inspection started. Not even 30 min the inspection was done. We were then told to pay same day for the inspection fee otherwise price goes up if you dont pay on the day of inspection. So we paid the fee x3 for beetle, gas, & plumbing. Finally we receive our report: Plumbing, Correctly route Drip tray overflow to outside - drip tray overflow has irrigation pipe, not allowed. Correctly saddle and secure water pipes. Total invoice R3800. Now this is not some complicated repair. When my husband confirmed that he will do these items himself & we would then book them for the "call-out fee" or even another inspection fee to double check that all is correctly done - they flat out said, no they will not come back to inspect & issue COC. They only issue COC on work they personally do. So then I asked but hold on, if these items that u pointed out, were actually not done incorrectly, meaning the property had no faults, u would have issued COC for work that u did not do, & the owner said yes, so I asked, what is the difference now? The owner just kept telling me its against the law. Same with gas inspection. Replace flexible hose at cylinder - hose older than 5 yrs ( which could be so ) Replace Low pressure bullnose regulator - Older than 10 yrs ( funny enough we just purchased a new one less then a month ago & that is the one which was on the bottle when the inspector inspected ) Replace composite below hob with copper. Total Invoice R1600 out of which R890 is for the new orange hose and new regulator???? Which regulator is 1m old... I asked the owner why are their fees so high & why are the overcharging for the products - no answer. Why cant we provide the new regulator & pipe. Because we are not qualified gas installers. Why cant we have a second inspection booked even if we pay the inspection fee for them to check that all their remarks were addressed - because we are not professional installers. She kept referring to disclosure which was sent by email, the day prior to inspection - which I did not had a chance to see, nor was I expecting or was told to read it over, as all my booking and communication was over ther whats app line. And she kept protecting herself with the disclosure that they dont issue COC for work which is not completed by them. So then how do they ever issue COC to homes which lets say dont have a fault, since clearly none of the work on those homes was done by them? They dont, they make sure to find something even as small and as ridiculous as they can, then they provide you an overpriced quote, and you are forced to pay them because you already paid the inspection fee and need that COC. Well, I wont. Even if it costs me more money to pay inspection fee to another company, I will rather give them well deserved income. I dont support companies who legally **** people.

I had 4 inspections done by them at a cost of R 1750-00. Everything works in my house and this has been so since the time i bought the house. They want to charge me on so many irrelevant things like: An electrical outlets cover is cracked - R 650-00 to replace the lot. They want to put in a brand new Db board at the pool - its working just fine R 4800-00. The list goes on and on - totaling nearly R 12000-00 for "repairs" When i told them they are a ******* - i was asked to negotiate ? Compliance certificates are there to make sure that there is COMPLIANCE - not replace when something still works. I have had to approach another company due to this one trying to rip people off..... I will spread the word as much as i can - DO NOT USE BUGS AND SPARKS !!!!

I have sold my house and needed compliance certificates. I tried three other places before trying Bugs and Sparks and dealing with them has been a pleasure. They are honest, professional and affordable. It can be a challenge to find an honest place for compliance certificates and I had two other places try to **** me or solicit bribes - take the worry out of the whole business and phone Bugs and Sparks - you won't regret it!

Daylight *******. please be aware of this company!! When I bought this house, this company issued a CoC and I found out it costed the previous house sellers 16K for electrical work done. Now that I'm selling the same house years later, I thought let's use the same company. They send me a Quotation of 32K, indicating a number of issues when they were the only electrical company who worked on the house. They do this because they know you need the CoC. After a number of back and forth emails they told me the "The Legislation" has changed since then. I'm still waiting for the "Updated Legislation"
