I've been waiting for 17 working days for my account from Busamed Hillcrest Private Hospital. Discharge date was 16 May 2025 . This is unacceptable and I've been in contact with accounts who now are apparently following up with billing department. Pathetic. I need to submit my account to my gap cover and this is out of sla.

I was admitted about 36 hours ago and I have seen a doctor once. I have been sent for CT Scans and XRays and have been fed a drip with antibiotics and pain killers. I have been told nil per mouth so have been sucking on ice. But there is no confirmed diagnosis. The doctor on call is not doing rounds, so I have no one to talk to. The nurses just do routines and respond very slowly to any requests. Otherwise there are a very little opportunity to recover because it is permanently noisy. There were about 2 hours during the night where it was relatively quiet. The beds are uncomfortable and I have asked 2x for an extra pillow. This morning they pushed out my IV needle because they put the blood pressure band on the wrong arm. I am in constant pain due to uncomfortable beds. I was asked to give a stool sample but then they put me on antibiotics before I could do this.

I had to visit a medical facility or GP on Friday 27 December for a simple medical procedure. We were on holiday at ATKV Drakensville and my one ear became blocked with ear wax. I opted to go to Busamed Private Hospital in Harrismith, but it was a big mistake. On face value everything seemed fine. I was booked in by a trainee who took forever and did not know what he was doing, every step of the way he had to ask advice from another lady. After what seemed like forever I was escorted to the ER. The staff there was friendly and helpful, calling the doctor to come and assist me. After another long wait the "Dr" appeared. He was wearing a mask and I could not hear what he was saying. He did not introduce himself, nor what he was going to do. This is not the first time I had this procedure done and knew what to expect. When he opened a new needle and filled a syringe with cold saline solution, I immediately started to question in my mind what was going on, but I was desperate to get the problem resolved and "go back to holiday". He had me lying on my side while he was poking my ear with the fresh, sharp needle, squirting cold water into my ear to remove the blockage. I have not felt pain like that in a long time, the needle cut into my ear every time. After some wax came out, with the wax and water mix running over my face and into my mouth and eyes (I usually sit while this is done), he asked me to turn over for the other side. To my surprise, when he was done, there was blood on the pillow. This was a first and I tried not to freak out. He then said he's done even though my ear was still blocked and that I need to visit an audiologist to remove the wax as they can see what they are doing. I paid an exorbitant amount and left extremely disappointed and worried about my bleeding ear. On my return to JHB (the Monday after) I visited my GP. It took him 5s to clean each ear, while I was sitting upright, as usual, without any pain. It was also less than a third of the price Busamed charged me. It was the worst medical "care" experience I ever had. I seriously doubt the Dr's qualification and experience.

Review for Maluti Paediatrics: DR. WESSELS I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Busamed Private Maluti Paediatrician with my 16-month-old child. After our urgent appointment on December 3, 2024, I was met with unprofessionalism and poor treatment. DR. WESSELS seemed agitated from the start, spoke on a personal call during our visit, and showed little regard for my baby's well-being. When I requested to comfort my distressed child, the doctor aggressively pinned him down, causing him unnecessary pain and fear. Despite my concerns, he continued with harsh handling, even leading to my baby choking at one point. When I asked for proper treatment, he coldly threatened to refund my money and asked us to leave. I’ve always had good experiences with other doctors at this clinic, but this behavior from DR. WESSELS was completely unacceptable and left me deeply upset. I hope the clinic takes this seriously and ensures better care for future patients.

Professor Frans Maruma a dermatologist of Oraderm Skincare in Bloemfontein and a sessional doctor at Busamed Private Hospital in Harrismith is nothing but the worst nightmare to some if most patients seeking skin treatment...I am one of his victims I consulted him for hyper***mentation instead he gave me injections which altered my physical appearance, damaged my skin barrier and aged me so bad...Before going there people would always compliment me of how well I was aging now I’m called Oulady because of that arrogant guy...I told him believing he could fix it but he told me I lack confidence and should go and ask the people who are calling me old where he should fix me...His PA who happens to be a close family friend is also well-trained because she would lie and say there’s progress whereas this stupid guy is turning you into a ******...That guy didn’t do anything but ruin my life because I feel happy only when I’m indoor... I wish more of his victims could come forward and share their experiences...That guy is the biggest mistake to ever happen to humankind...Professor ya ****!!!

My friend Gavin, who is in his 80s, was admitted to Busamed Hillcrest hospital a few days before our visit. Reception advised us he was in ICU and granted us access to the ward. The control desk in ICU advised he was no longer in the ICU ward and that we should find out which ward he was in at the main hospital reception at the entrance. Astonishingly, they advised he was in the hospital but did not know which ward he was in, as this was not reflected on his records. Hospital reception was unable to help us any further. We then enquired as to whether the patient was discharged; they advised the records indicated he was not discharged. We then phoned Gavin's doctor, who informed us of the ward number he was admitted to. We found him in this ward. Gavin was having difficulty breathing and was out of breath. He explained he was very uncomfortable. This was understandable; he is a tall, large man, and his legs projected beyond the bottom bed railing—they were hanging over the bed. The bed was clearly too short for him. Despite showing the nursing staff that the bed was too small, they advised that the hospital does not have larger beds. Gavin had spent 3 days in a bed that he could not fit into. Busamed did not assist him, despite complaints from Gavin that he was uncomfortable. The daily ward cost is R6000 per day. We requested the location of the Matron's office. Unfortunately, the Matron was not in her office, and we reported our concerns to the main hospital reception.
