My experience was so bad last night that I woke up just now at 1am in absolute rage, rethinking how a restaurant could treat their patrons the way we were treated and feel that it's okay.
It was our second time visiting the restaurant, first time one of 4 in our group did not receive their food, but it ended up being delicious so we let it go and thought maybe this is a once off thing, they were having a bad day. Yesterday we were a group of around 16 grown ups and a few kids who visited the restaurant for my birthday. The day started off well, the vibe was good, drinks came a bit slow but we understood because we were a big group, besides, the food was really good so it would make up for the lack if service later, right? WRONG...we order our meals around 14h30, by about 15h30 the waiter came past our table again asking if we could reorder as someone in the kitchen had lost our slip. We all patiently agreed and repeated our orders. By 16h15 some food had arrived (4 guests) and the rest of us were starting to question where our meals were as they were simply not coming out. We were then informed by the waiter that there is a problem in the kitchen, that they are ***********. We were then greeted by the manager who asked what our problem was, we explained that we had been waiting for our food for nearly 2 hours by that time and to which he responded that it's not possible, it's not that long, our order was only handed in 45 minutes ago, basically calling us ****s. Explaining that we had ordered twice and that our order was lost, he finally stepped in and tried to make sense of a kitchen so poorly managed that no one there knew what they were doing. They started sending our random food individually. I got JUST mash, nothing else, another one of my guests got JUST a steak, no sides, they sent out random sides of chips with no protein, it was a **** show to say the least. We then had to take it into our own hands, make a list of what was outstanding and eventually we received all our orders by 17h30. My order was wrong but by this time, my pregnant belly was starving, I would have eaten anything. We all finished our meals, settled our bills and even included a tip which the waiter in my opinion did not deserve. We didn't even ask them to reduce the bill due to the lack of foccacia bread that was promised with some of the meals and which we didn't get because it was out of stock, we just wanted to pay and get out of there.
A few of us stayed a while longer as some of my guests were finishing their drinks. And here is what traumatised me and probably the reason why I am unable to sleep, this waiter has the audacity to come back and tell us that one of our bills had been short paid after we did our calculations and saw that there was even an undeserved tip. We asked for them to give us the bill so we can check and see thaf they have now added 3 x random items that were not on our bill previously, apparently they tried adding everything to one bill to balance it out, which they not do, they just added 3 random items, one from a seperate bill and 2 from another bill which means they added items that were already paid seperately and now their maths wasn't mathing and the amount received on that bill seemed less than the total amount because they added new already paid items to it and were now expecting us to pay R150 extra. I asked for them to bring all the slips so that we can try to help them make sense of their mess but like our food orders, they had lost this too. One of my kind hearted guests ended up paying this to avoid further stress. What gets me the most, is how they had the audacity to come back, mess up again and demand more money after the service we received and after the fact that my order was wrong and half of our party did not receive parts of their order.
This place has so much potential, and the food really is amazing. It's a pity that it's so poorly managed. The have spoilt my entire birthday and upset me so much that I can't sleep. Great food not worth the poor service unfortunately.
