To whom it may concern I called The holiday club requesting accommodation in the garden route , I was offered Castleton and Formosa bay . I called on Monday and took the option up of booking the 6 of the 7 units available . I was transferred to the group booking department and I agreed tobreakage deposit Subsequently I received a call to say they received an email to say they don’t accept group bookings and I will be refunded my deposit A few days later I was called to say that The holiday club was made aware that I had booked units through RCi . I told them holiday club and Rci are separate entities and it’s different booking . I then requested our units with holiday club be cancelled . I was informed that if I cancel units I will forfeit it Anyway I arrived at the resort to be told by reception strict instructions not give any keys to any of our units . We Arrived at 4 30 till 7 00pm. Ladies at reception were instructed should they give keys they will loose their job . At that stage we were only 18 people . Eventually after calling my cousin who is lawyer and booked through Castleton he advised them to issue our keys else we would close the entrance to the resort . We had traveled almost 300km to come to Plett and had no alternate arrangements for the evening . We were grudgingly given our keys . Nonetheless the next morning at 8am the Supervisor walked into all units without knocking apparently under instructions to do a head count . A violation of privacy and rights Later a meeting was held by trustee and Manager and trustee Wendy who was rudely walking around with a chip on shoulder and all units were issued with warning letters . Must advise there was birthday party held on resort by a resident at Castleton ( group was in access of 34 people and they had occupied the pool area ). The games room was closed at 4 45. Also reception closed at that time so there was no manager on site I wanted to report my toilet not working there was not soul in sight Overall a humiliating degrading horrible experience

A warning to all families especially if you have kids don't use castleton in plettenberg bay. What an uptight verkrampde place that might only appeal to elderly Europeans. No facilities besides a pool which can only be used in a polite manner. Mangers Wendy was a throwback to verwoedian era. No fraternising with friends or family in other units. A warning to anyone one with darker skin tone .
