Centracom's replyOfficial
03 Nov 2025, 06:13 Good day, Alta.
This is to clarify Centracom’s position regarding the calls you have reported.
Like Telkom, Vodacom and MTN, Centracom is a Tier One VoIP carrier. We provide services to telecoms wholesalers, who in turn allocate numbers to their own clients. These clients include major banks, insurance companies and call centres.
We do not have visibility of the end-user and cannot identify who placed a call using one of our numbers, or to whom the number was issued. Telkom, MTN and Vodacom are in the same position, and none of us can be held responsible for the actions of users on our networks.
While the call or calls in question may have originated from our network, the number would have been allocated to one of our wholesale clients, who would have issued it to their client.
In terms of the POPI Act, Centracom is not permitted to disclose the identity of the wholesaler. That said, we take matters like this seriously. Our team will log a support ticket and make contact with you to gather the necessary details. We will then instruct the relevant wholesale provider to ensure their client ceases any further calls to you.
Thank you,
Centracom Management
Best regards,
