On 12/12/2025 I arrived today at champagne sports resort I thought I am going to at beautiful place in between mountains but what a disappointment where I stay around me there is other Shelley’s so no view left home for view but came on other place to see other Shelley’s around me going to spend 7 days with disappointment will not recommend this place to any one and will never come here again very disappointed.

I just want to let you know that your hotel is 1 of the best I've ever had the good fortune of staying at. From the cleaners all the way up to management, everybody was friendly, helpful and caring. The staff always have a smile on their faces and are always eager to help. The dining room staff and chefs were always helpful, friendly and world class. The food was out of this world and amazing. I thank you for making our stay feel like our home away from home.

I just want to let you know that your hotel is 1 of the best I've ever had the good fortune of staying at. From the cleaners all the way up to management, everybody was friendly, helpful and caring. The staff always have a smile on their faces and are always eager to help. The dining room staff and chefs were always helpful, friendly and world class. The food was out of this world and amazing. I thank you for making our stay feel like our home away from home.

Lovely setting and beautiful chalets but the noise nuisance every night is unacceptable. We saved up for a special occasion to be able to spend a week here and booked a chalet 10 to 17 May, expecting a lovely, quiet peaceful week in the Berg. We were most unpleasantly surprised by the unwanted nightly noise nuisance for the duration of our visit, either by inconsiderate neighbours or by loud parties held at the conference centre. Management was conspicuous by their absence and did precisely nothing. If you enjoy the Drakensberg area and enjoy peace and quiet, you will not get that here. Find other accommodation. It's a disgrace.

On the 26th of March I sent an email advising that our team is interested in having a golf session. Since then I've been emailing back and forth w.r.t to this golf session. Today I was told our golf session can only take place from 2h30pm on Friday 24th May as another group has booked the same day. When I then asked why I wasn't warned the first time I mentioned the golf session, that there was another group booking for golf on the same day as us I was told the following; "Unfortunately, I didn’t know that there was another group booked, because Golf bookings are done directly with the Proshop not with me, I only assist with checking availability and bookings for our clients when I have the dates and numbers" I'm angry that I've spent a month talking to these people back and forth about this Golf session and not once was I told, "Your golf booking is not booked or provisionally booked because it's not our job please contact the right people and make your own arrangements". This could have been avoided had I been told me on 26th March in my very first email where I mentioned the golf session that it's done with another department. Instead I wasted time and energy talking to the wrong people and that's now blown up in my face. This situation has created chaos in our plans and I am livid. Please be very careful when booking with this company. Double check then triple check every detail so you don't get *****ed like I did.

For a first time stay at this place, I was absolutely shocked at the horrible service received and rudeness of staff. We had a family stay for 3 nights and upon checking into the resort, they had my booking all mixed up and incorrect rooms allocated which was not the start I expected. On the second day we got back from breakfast only to find that our room door was left wide open by one of the cleaning staff, with all our belongings inside, and nobody was there. Such a huge risk and absolutely negligent behaviour. On the third day it rained heavy and we rented an umbrella to get around the resort and eventually returned the item back to reception in the late afternoon only to then be shouted at on the phone 15mins later that we had not returned the item. I have never encountered such rude and disrespectful tone from staff at a hotel before and this is one experience I will never forget. Instead of enquiring in a calm manner, the lady on the line shouted so loudly at me for the umbrella that I had to pass the phone to my husband to rectify the issue as I could not listen to her rudeness anymore. Furthermore, my kids went to the restaurant to order lunch and had to wait almost 3 hours for their food to be ready because the first time they placed the order, the restaurant brought them beef burgers instead of chicken and then ignored them for such a long time before they eventually prepared their food. My kids are 14 and 16 and they were not with any adult at the time and for the restaurant staff to treat them this way was absolutely shocking! On the day of our departure, I left my jackets, jersey and two blouses in the cupboard and called backed to them to let them know I had forgotten those items and if they could recover it and leave it with friends we had staying at the resort. They only found my husbands jacket and none of my items which is very strange as all the items were together. This only meant that the cleaning staff had stolen my stuff and even after advising the manager and the security manager, I have not received any feedback as to what steps were taken by them to try and retrieve my items that went missing. They have no clue about customer satisfaction and I would not recommend this resort to anyone. Please be aware that if you do leave anything behind in error, they do not have honest staff and will not do anything to recover your items for you. Their only concern is making money and once they receive your payment they do not bother if you are a satisfied guest or not! I will certainly not be going back to this resort ever again!!!!

The place is absolutely beautiful but the service is terrible, we called to confirm about rates and spoke to a guy named Kogan who was taking bookings and he gave us rates and told us he will send us a confirmation email with all details which he never did.......then when we got to the venue he doubled our rates and told us we didn't understand him properly. The following day when we asked him about the spa treatment that was included he changed the story and told us he charged us wrong rates he will rufund us the next day before we check-out ( which we're still waiting for till today). We're trying to follow up on the refund and the guy is no where to be found and the lady we got said her office if far from his office. Their phones hardly even go through. Secondly, we ran out of soap so we went to the reception (because our landline was not working and we reported it but nothing happened) and asked one the ladies if we could get some soap and shower caps and the lady told us that we only get it once since it's complimentary to people booked in the self-catering units (and we were actually at the hotel units). All in all i was not happy with the service and i actually felt like the only people they prioritized were the golfers. Good food, Great place, Amazing waiters and waitresses 👌

Hello. I am very disappointed to have to write this review however this morning I had the most uncomfortable and belittling telephone conversation with the lady at reservations. Due to the recent unrests in South Africa I was simply trying to ask the lady should something like that happen during my stay there what plans, if any had been put in place to ensure the safety of the patrons of the resort? It was a simple question, I do understand that previously the unrest did not happen in the Drakensburg which was so rudely conveyed to me but this is not to say that it cannot happen in the future. I was meant to be travelling with 2 elderly parents who have already been so traumatised by the previous unrest, therefore I just wanted to have a chat to find out what exist routes there where and what structures where in place to help guests should something occur etc but the lady at reservations was so unfriendly and insensitive not to mention rude. When you are apart of the customer service team one would expect you to be understanding and accommodating to clients, I am left to only believe that Champagne sports resort does not need my business not even in these very difficult economic times. I run a training company and often look for training venues but after this I will never use Champagne Sports Resort in a private or business capacity ever again. I ended the conversation feeling totally undervalued as a potential customer.
