Checkstar online is a ****. They put products on there and when u order they call and say the promotion is no longer and it takes 3 days for it to get deleted off the app, which is all *****. They don't want to honour their prices. Friend of mine also ordered the cooee that was on special for R8 they called and cancelled on her. Rather order from a reputable company.

I went in to buy catmor cat food, priced where it was packed at R162,99, however when I went to the teller, it read R175,99, so I informed them that 3 label pricetags reading R162,99 was displayed on the shelf, they did find the tags but instead of acknowledging their error, they just said maybe it not the chicken flavour, said they can't do anything about it, they removed the tags, and the manager did say another customer came with the same problem, anyway I can't trust this institute as it's greed and dishonesty is apparent in their manner and attitude towards their customers

I am an employee at checkstar in Durban. I have been working there for a little over a year now, I have had some personal problems as well as problems with certain managers. Staff are forced to work overtime without pay our hours are cut down to almost nothing there is one manager in particular that I would like to bring to book for not only cutting my hours but speaking of my personal issues infront of staff instead of addressing it privately with me her name is pranitha pillay she is a receiving manager at checkstar I am extremely upset about this and would like to take this up everytime I do talk about the way we are treated other staff has said that the department of labor has intervened but never came back which means they have been bought off. When I told her that I would report her she actually told me to go ahead. Is this how retail is supposed to be?

This incident had occurred on the 10th May 2025. I had swiped my card for a purchase at the overport branch at 12.00pm the cashier did something quickly on the pc and stated my purchase was declined. I contacted the bank immediately and confirmed the purchase was successfully processed. Devrani approached the till and requested to swipe once more despite me proving that the purchase was successful, I comp**** as Devrani confirmed that the amount will be reversed and if not I would have to bring in a bank statement. On Monday another transaction was processed by checkstar for the same value at 4.09am verifying a 3rd amount deducted of the same value. Monday 12th May 2025 afternoon I had taken my bank statement to Checkstar overport which was received by Mumtaz to be given to Devrani the next day. I called in Tuesday morning requesting if information and documents was provided to headoffice. Devrani called back and confirmed she is handling query. Tuesday 13th May 2025 I received a partial refund. Wednesday I went in and was advised no feedback was available for the 3rd amount taken. I have been back and forth between Checkstar and my bank as my bank has confirmed that all 3 amounts of the same value were banked by Checkstar. I have provided documents and made efforts for all requests on my own dime. I just want my money refunded as Checkstar won't compensate me for running around using my petrol and alternative costing to sort this out. I'm not the 1st customer this has happened to and I won't be the last. The cashiers love committing ***** on the daily

I had just came from buying some really valuable staff, and I wanted to buy some groceries, someone told me they have reasonable prices so I went there, the security told me I can't go in with the plastic (my valuable) staff, mind you there is a long line at the pacel counter, that is beside the point I did want to leave my staff there when it clear written "leave at your own risk" so I went to enquiry met someone who was also clueless but managed to resolve it he offered to hold my staff at the kiosk coz clearly there stupid and unconsidering the customers policy was stict, which did not make any sense, but I did leave my things at the kiosk and went inside, where I found a dirty untidy with no direction store, nothing was reasonable as I was told, I did not buy anything, I went to my usually Spar and did my groceries, sometimes trying something new is a bad idea
