I had a work trip booked and the hotel wouldn’t let me check in without confirmation from the office so they made me pay my first night and would then refund me upon receiving confirmation from the office. While staying there they got confirmation for full payment yet they still haven’t refunded me. I keep calling and they keep saying they will get back to me. In effect they’re ****ming me as I have paid and so has the office!!

Amazing hotel however terrible front desk service and the reception seriously needs a shake up! Requested an early check in but the room was not available until 5pm? The front desk kept on making excuses and even **** about house cleaning busy with the room? When we went to check the room, there was no house keeping! It was not until we requested to speak to the manager and the room had miraculosly became available in 15min. The same afternoon guests were just seen complaining, some guest even got so upset and started screaming due to the front desk's incompetence! Food and room were spot on! Location great! Extremely disappointed with what could have been an amazing Marriott Hotel.

Very disappointed for a 5 star hotel! Made online booking for special deals early check in and late check out for my husband birthday weekend away. I have phoned before hands to let them know there will be a 6 year old boy and if they can also do little thing for the birthday even just a small piece of cake, the booking lady name Ulanda said I can up grade for extra R300 for extra bed and bigger room which I am happy to do so, I have also confirmed with her twice with early check in if including breakfast and she said yes, that’s part of the special. On the day we arrived the reception very rude and rolled her eyes on me said no deals included breakfast and at 8:30 the room is not ready, we send up paying full price if breakfast for two. End up there was no extra bed for the child and also NOTHING for my husband birthday cake ( not even just a sweet) The bed is very old and uncomfortable, I end up not sleeping well as every small movement of my husband and my child I can feel it, the bedding is inside out and the beds are broken( yes, I have taken pictures) Not recommend for any business man to sleep there as there wifi also very slow, I couldn’t even open a page ( and yes, I have also took pictures of that) My husband took me for Taj 5 star hotel and we had a wonderful time so I book Marriott as I think it’s a standard for a 5 star hotel but no! The mirror by the sink is falling apart, very badly fitted after someone break it in the first place( I got pictures for that too) Not worth to call this hotel as a 5 star hotel. Very bad experience.

Most pathetic place to stay. Friday night somebody tried to break into our room at this place. I reported it to the hotel personnel who told us that they would investigate. They then told us that it could only be one of their personnel, as the other guests' keys would not be able to unlock any door other than that of the rooms that they stay in. At no point did these people inform us what the outcome of the investigation was. Today, when I asked them about it, I was told by the reception that it was a guest who was at the wrong door. Apparently their CCTV is of such a nature that they could not see whether the door was opened and also that other guests' keys won't open the door. When I asked them to speak to their General Manager, he was apparently missing in action. Also, the matter was not reported to the South African Police Service, which is what should have been done when a crime is reported. In any event, at no stage did this so-called General Manager or any of his staff checked whether my wife and I are okay, nor did they follow up with any feedback or any indication on what measures they are implementing to prevent similar occurrences. It seems that they are all about protecting themselves and their "supposedly" good name at the behest of their guests. I will NEVER EVER recommend this hotel or any Protea Hotel ever again and am stopping my membership with effect from today.

Today, 2 of my friends and my two kids decided to have lunch at crystal towers..what an absolute disaster. This terrible experience started from the onset and just went on and on. The complimentary bread was cold and hard, and the butter was sour, runny and spoilt. We were told that this is what it ought to taste like. The bread was apparently freshly baked....and probably kept in the fridge to stay fresh... Let's proceed to the main dishes ...a ****** plate is what we got. We ordered grills..medium to rare . And received food that was soaked in blood...clearly the meet wasn't given the opportunity to "rest" or perhaps this was meant to happen on our plates. Further, my plate, had lumps of "fat/blood"..the stuff that floats to the top of the pot when meat is boiled .. Absolutely disgusting.. We were told that according to the chef;blood on the plate and the disgusting stuff, is to be expected when one orders medium to rare meat. Oh and by the way, one of my friend's received the incorrect order. But after all of this, there were only excuses and apparently that is how things are done at this restaurant.. .so we were told It was an experience that will never be forgotten and one that will never be repeated. It is shocking that a restaurant, with supposed international standards, serves such ****.
