I contacted Joey Marx on Facebook after she advertised on I love Northcliff for maintenance work. She referred me to her son Daniel Claasen. I contacted him to come out and give a quote to remove nails in a wall, patch and repaint. I had to ask on numerous occasions for the quote. When the quote was received I approved it and paid 50% deposit immediately and arranged for a date and time for the repairs to be done. Daniel arrived 1.5 hours late. The nails were removed and he patched the walls. He then stood around for another 2 hours waiting for the filling to dry. He asked me extremely inappropriate questions about my marital status so I decided to wait outside for him to finish. He then stood outside my apartment arguing with a previous client about work done as the client (an estate agent) is suing him for bad work done. When he was done with his call I asked him how long it will still take as he said no longer than an hour but he has been standing around for 2 hours. He said he doesn't know. I suggested that he cleans up and come back on another day to finish off. He had messed on my wall unit and the floors. He then went into a detailed explanation about his phone call and that he is being sued for bad work and he will not stand for it. I proceeded to do the cleaning. The marks did not want to come out of my wall unit. He did not bring the appropriate material to avoid messing. When I let him out of the complex he begged for the rest of the money as he walked there with his helper and they are desperate for money. I felt bad and paid him. During the following week I asked on numerous occasions when he will return to complete the job. He avoided me. After the 4th day of asking him he responded and said he will come back when it suits me. I suggested Saturday. He arrived an hour early on Saturday. On his way there he phoned and said he forgot the paint and needs to go buy paint. He arrived with a white undercoat and said it would be perfect. The holes were as big as a R5 piece. He proceeded to paint A3 sizes over and around the holes. The paint was yellow and very noticable on the walls. He said the colour will change. After the colour did not change after 2 hours I sent him a picture of the walls. He said its a factory fault with the paint and he will email them immediately and copy me. I insisted that he comes back immediately and fix it. I sent his mother the same pictures. She insisted it was a factory fault with the paint and there is nothing they can do as they have finished the job. She then posted on I love Northcliff that I am a very difficult client and it is no wonder I am divorced. She insisted it was a factory fault with the paint. Then she changed her story and said it was undercoat and they were coming back to finish the job but as I was now upset they refuse to come back. All that needed to be done was small holes to be repaired. I now have to pay a painter to come and repaint all the walls.
