Two weeks ago, we took our Tzih Shu, Hugo, to Dogs On The Rocks to be washed.
Jeanette, the owner, noted that Hugo, after being dried, was heavily panting. She placed him near an open door to cool down and then went out to deliver other client's dogs.
Hugo wet himself in his cage and with Jeanette out, the staff decided to rewash and dry him. When we arrived to collect him, a member of the staff was still blow drying him, Hugo's mouth was wide open and had obvious difficulty breathing.
We rushed Hugo to Rinaldo Vet Surgery.. DR.John John Morton said his temperature was 41.2 and was about to go into shock from heat stroke. John gave Hugo injections and rapidly cooled him down under a fan in an airconditioned room. He saved his life.
Our bill with the vet was nearly R800 and my wife requested Jeanette reimburse her with the full amount. Jeanette offered to pay half as it was not her fault, SHE WAS OUT..
Jeanette used to have a qualified assistant, Robyn, but she left. We hope this does not happen again to other dogs, but with the current set-up, this is possible.
