As last resort I took my mom to Dr V Zyl who indicates on his website: "Rheumatologists are specialised to treat patients with arthritis; Systemic autoimmune diseases like Lupus; inflammatory diseases of blood vessels (vasculitis); certain diseases of bone (Paget’s disease of bone, osteoporosis) as well as soft tissue rheumatism". My mom was diagnosed by a skin specialist with Systemic lupus disease. The consultation took 10 minutes including trying to build rapport with the patient. The outcome was he is not certain if it is Lupus, it may be, but if it is then the medication she has, is good, if it isn't lupus, then she should see her skin specialist again. That was also a R2100 consultation with anti-allergy prescription. He then says it would be unethical to refer us to a skin specialist he knows, however, we can collect the details at reception if we want..... I feel if we look at ethics then not treating a patient who has been suffering with lupus for three years and admitting he doesn't have an answer, then consider a reduced consultation and remove the lupus treatment which is advertised on your website. Complete waste of time and money.
