Yesterday I headed to a new Urologist I'd never been to before for a surgery consultation (Bilateral orchiectomy) I arrived at the hospital and headed inside alone due to covid regulations. Reached the Dr's rooms and started filling out all the needed paper work.
As most trans people know having to fill out paperwork with your deadname and birth gender is not pleasant. But I filled everything and handed in my forms to the receptionist.
I sat back down and they proceeded to whisper and say some things under there breath at the notice of my paperwork. Clearly they noticed I was trans and were talking about me behind my back. Not that I didn't notice.
I then had to wait for about an hour for the Dr to come out of surgery. Right from the get go I got a very off feeling as he barely spoke and ushered me to be seated.
I sat and he went over my paperwork. He typed a few things in silence and then asked what I am here for today. I said that I was there to enquire about a bilateral orchiectomy. I explained some of my medical history and that my Dr recommended him to me.
He asked about why I was taking certain meds and all seemed normal. Then out of nowhere he asked if I had done all of the phycological bull**** (He actually said that) to which I was a little shocked. I gave him my phycology letter and he made a copy of it.
He then told me to go to the back room and remove my clothing and put on a surgical gown. As he was closing the door he said he will be assisting another patient while I get ready.
I did as I was asked and sat there freezing in that gown for another 15min until he came in without a word. He put on some medical gloves and said to lay down. Then he said he is going to check "down there" to make sure of things for the surgery.
The Dr proceeded check my legs and made a rude comment missgendering me (calling me boykie) and telling me that I need to shave my legs. (Firstly Im an adult woman not a boy and secondly how is that his business)
He then yanked my underwear down and started to check, prod and poke at my *******s... He asked a few "does this hurt questions", did one more check of things and explained the surgery procedure. Pressing into my *******s as he explained things.
He yanked up my underwear and proceeded to ask if my breasts were real and touched them without consent or giving me a chance to respond. The gal of this *******.
He left the room and I got dressed in utter shock. I tried to compose myself and went back to my seat at his desk to hopefully get costing of the surgery and leave.
Without even giving me cost estimates and telling me what to expect he started throwing out dates for the surgery. I stopped him and said Dr I'm not even sure what this is going to cost me. Can you give me a quote?
He scribbled some notes and gave me a slip of paper. Told me to get a quote from reception and carried on typing.. I said good day and got a rushed goodbye
I left to reception and handed them the slip of paper explaining that I needed a quote please. They said this will be emailed to me and it'll take a number of days..
Then they gave me the receipt for the consultation.. Telling me Its going to be R1375.50
I paid the fee and left.. I feel gross and violated..
