High cost and very poor delivery service by UPS / SAPO

Order placed 2021-11-01. Paid by my bank 2021-11-04. I initially thought that I had been scammed but no, they are legitimate But - Parcel arrived 2022-01-14 - to be fetched from the local SAPO. Delivery by UPS but handed over to SAPO for final delivery. Really? Is UPS that ignorant about the SAPO? The same or similar products are now available from Clicks and Dischem - off the shelf and no delivery risk involved. So why would one order from the USA at 7+ times the cost?
