Appalling - a NO SHOW. Made an appointment with Joel on a Monday at 10am. No show, no contact. I sent a message to follow up on their whereabouts and called and left a voicemail, no response whatsoever. Who would want to support such a business?

Our first dealings with Joel in June 2023 were positive and his team worked quickly, quietly and efficiently. However, after a big rainstorm, we had substantial leaking in our home. Joel promised to return with the team to fix the issue under warranty, but they never showed up on the arranged day and stopped taking our calls or responding to messages. Not impressed!

Shocking - but will just state the facts as opinions are not relevant - the owner Joel will and cannot dispute this as well : - engaged his team in Aug to do roof work - had multiple leaks as warranty from Universal Roofing had expired and the Pretoria branch had closed down. Accepted quote of R 60 k - he was middle of other quotes I received ( R 85 k and R 35 k were the other two comparable quotes). He seemed liked a nice guy when he accepted the deposit - on day of arrival he shouted at the security staff who wanted to see his and his workers ID docs (standard procedure in all estates in SA). The problem mostly was that his staff are all Zim’s (as their work restrictions end in next 12 months in SA as taking SA people jobs) whose work permits had all expired. Our HOA asked that I advise him of the estate rules and that no entry will be allowed for delinquents and that his abuse to staff would not be tolerated. - not withstanding all of the above, the job progressed. Much mess and late finalisation as staff did not not have valid ID’s so couldn’t get into estate. - When job eventually finished - my main concern was the guarantee on the workmanship - was told - see you in 5 years. - Not 2 months later in early Dec 22, leaks appeared in 2 parts of the house. Asked Joel to come and fix both - set out below is the current resolution: - Leak 1 : Main TV room - still small leaks as water stains on walls - advised in Q1 23 - some acknowledgment- no action to date - Leak 2 : massive issue - asked him to sort leak on area - still leaking 3 month’s later - much correspondence on matter from Dec till May 23, little or no action, denies responsibility and threatens me with legal action via his attorney and advocate (same person) if I dare to publish a report on Hello Peter. In the mean time I had engaged 3 more reputable firms who easily identified the issues on leak 2 (the photos will confirm that the roof was never fixed properly in the first place by Joel- holes everywhere). - Conclusion : Joel has cost me an additional R 30 k to get leak 2 and resultant damage (painting roof, ceilings and walls inside). Leak 1 is minor at this stage and I will engage same coy to sort that at as well. I cannot trust Joel to sort that out as my experience is that once he has taken your money, he really isn’t interested in after sales or guarantee market. I have all the abusive what’s apps and his messages should any one like to confirm my facts.

Such a rude and arrogant person, fights with the security guard because they asked him for his details to come in, he then proceeded to my gate screaming and shouting He even had the audacity to say report him on hello peter ***Please stay away from this company***

These guys were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. I would strongly recommend them for anybody who needs maintenance done to their roof. Dealing with them was a pleasure. Well done and thank you!

I had a horror story from another contractor that repaired my roof and waterproofing that leaked from the first rains..I called Joel from Fix a Rook that came out within 5 hours of me contacting him.

Joel showed me exacly what my issue was and quoted on the job .

I agreed and his team started on time and was completed the damproofing and repairs to the roof on schedule. We need more contactors like Joel and his team.

The roof has been leak free for a year now.

Great service and would recommend fix a roof anytime.

Darren (Remax Executive Group)

I needed to get my roof fixed urgently and stumbled across this comoanies details on the internet. Their workmanship is very shoddy. Red flag is that they will ask for about 80-90% upfront in payments so that they can hold you to ransom. They quoted me based on a full day job, but they did not even sprend more than 2 hours at my house. They also quoted on a large area so that they can justify their ridiculous quote but the actual work is done on a much smaller area. Basically they only use the sealing fabric and a liquid plastic that costs less than R500 and charge you 10x more. Beware of them in the West Rand Area, they go by many names and usually their websites only provide a cellphone number. The pictures on their websites are NOT their own work that they've done, they use them to deceive unsuspecting customers.

Be careful all you residents in the Roodeport and surrounding areas. There is a company going by the name Fix-A-Roof,(now Hyper-Roofing) they are ruthless particularly the owner (Jan ), playing on the desperation of the many people who own homes and having problems with roof leakages. I found this company on Gumtree as i have found many suppliers in the past but this time i was robbed day light. Infact i thought it was Fix a Roof which is a reputable company only to find that it wasnt, the difference is the way the name is spelled. Anyway to cut the long story short i responded to his ad and he quoted me to do a roof job. on the day he arrived to give quote he didnt even go on the roof and we argued about that. I should have known then that itwas a bad sign. I then contracted him to do te job, aid him (as he insisted to be paid according to his terms which was deposit, then balance on the start of the job) and he finally arrived after making everyone wait for 5hours, did a fraction of the job and the day was over promising to return. Till this day he hasnt reurned, i call him him answers the calls and tell me a whole lot of nonsence, the latest being that he is working on an 8 million project and i must just chill can you fathom that. But ya thats my story. His day will come very soon. Just don't be the victim i thought i should share my story.
