How can an airline get away with not refunding so many clients?

They are running their company on money they were paid for a service which was not rendered.

The Fly Blue Crane social media is littered with case after case of so many people whom have not received refunds.

How can this be allowed to continue?

Fly Blue Crane cancelled our flight with very little time to spare in order to get new tickets. We were arriving from Europe with two toddlers. No alternatives were given to us. Only a rather abrupt cancellation.

New tickets then had to be purchased with another airline and were very expensive given the short timeframe before the flight.

We could have bought international tickets for the the combination of the Fly Blue Crane flight and the new local flights!

As a result a huge portion of our budget suddenly evaporated and the impact it has on us as a family reached much further that I care to explain. Great start to our visit to South Africa.

Fly Blue Crane was emailed 12 times about this and called well over 10 times with a different lie every time: "The lady dealing with refunds is on leave" etc.

It has now been 6 months.

If Fly Blue Crane cannot supply a service they should not be allowed to trade anymore.

By all accounts given online this seems to happen extremely often. How can this crime continue?

This is also harms the tourist industry and reflects badly on South Africa as a whole.

I booked a flight from OR Tambo to Bloemfontein, travel scheduled for 19 December 2016, booking reference no: TT6JJ5. I was called by the airline to say the flight has been cancelled and the alternative they had did not meet my travel arrangememnts and they promised a refund. On 17 December as I passed through their offices I went to enquire about the refund and I was told that refund takes 14 days to process but when I did not get the refund I started trying to contact the airline and no one picks the calls. I have written emails and even written on their facebook page to enquire about the refund but todate I ahve not received any positive feedback, nor any update on my claim.

I had booked a flight from Mthatha to OR Tambo Airport for the 8th of March with the airline. Two days before my scheduled flight, I received an email from the airline that my flight had been cancelled and that my money would be returned within 7 working days. I phoned the airline requesting an explanation for the this, especially considering the extreme short notice. I was not given a clear answer but was told more than once during the phone call was that I would receive my money back. 7 days passed and the money was still not refunded, and so I sent an email enquiring. I did not receive a reponse and whenever I call their call centre and head office, one of the numbers does not exist and the other never gets answered. I have sent tens of emails with only one response I got after two weeks of sending constant emails with the email simply stating that they would investigate what the delay was. Tens of emails and numerous calls after that incident, I still haven't received any feedback or my money back. Judging by the actions of the airline, it is clear that they do not intend to return my money, on top of the fact that I was extremely inconvenienced by the short notice flight cancellation.

On 10 January 2017, I made a flight booking from Mthatha to Johannesburg for 21 March 2017. Looking at a high rate of bluecrane flight cancellations and to avoid eleventh hour cancellation disappointment, on 21 February, I made a request for a refund but no response has been obtained till today. It is sad now that all the’re telephone lines have now been disconnected.
