Took my car in for a transmission oil change. There was minor slipping of automatic gears changing but nothing bad. Was advised doing the gearbox oil change would likely resolve or at very least the issue would remain the same.
Within 1min of collecting my car my gears were all over the place, extreme power loss and end result gearbox burnt out. On checking my invoice it appears manual transmission oil was put in my automatic and 3l of oil in a 9l gearbox. Fourways Auto Tech say the invoice was incorrect and they made a mistake on the invoice, but the job card says they put 6l of auto oil in.. really it should have 9l.
I had the car towed to an independent gearbox specialist who drained 1litre of transmission oil and made other findings in his opinion of workmanship errors.
Contacted the RMI who are of no use as they remain neutral in the matter.. so what is the point of having RMI as a standard! Joke.
Consumer protector doesn't help as they say it's a civil matter, although I could file a new complaint to at least recover my invoice costs and hope they get a hefty fine.
Ombudsman is also appears no use as it's pure arbitration and if either party does not agree with their report, it's a civil matter.
Think twice before you take your car to these guys!!
