SCAM FULLON CONSTRUCTION AND BRADLEY MCKELLAR BASSET

I did not want to waste my time by writing a review that some victims might read and other not, but i accepted that it is my ethical duty towards other consumers to do so, so here goes:

A few months ago, I contracted Mckellar or as he introduced himself, Bradley Basset to build a swimming pool (contract 1) and renovate/build a new kitchen (contract 2) at my dwelling. Firstly, Bradley or Mckellar or whatever you want to call him, through the auspices of his company received a total amount of R 86 500-00 from me specifically as deposit amounts on these two district projects. There is no dispute between us regarding that.

As per the other and previous reviews listed hereunder, he was late, understaffed, had excuses about the material that ought to have found its way to the site and consequently struggled with the mere swimming pool hole for more than 6 weeks.

On the date of the "handing over" of the swimming pool, (or at least that was supposed to be), around 5 October 2022, whilst there was still only a hole, the erf is a mess and the little steel he ordered - lying on the grass, I phoned the engineer on the project (build of swimming pool), and another swimming pool expert, who provided me with written opinions on his egregious hole digging expertise including but not limited to: that the hole was not on the correct building lines, the hole was not the correct depth, the hole's levels are completely incorrect and the attempted product (in building of concrete swimming pools, contractors use orange bags that the fill and compact with sand), ie the 20Kg big bags he intended to use, were incorrect, wrong and fatally flawed . It is important to note at this point that his charge on his own quotation was R10 000-00 for the digging of the hole which included the excavation and labour etc)

That being said, it was thereafter agreed between him/his company and me and my girlfriend, that he should rather abandon the swimming pool project because of his inadequate, incompetent and ill-founded expertise in the building of swimming pools. He misrepresented that he is experienced in the building of swimming pools, well consequently it was agreed that he should rather finish (or actually start) the kitchen project because i understood he was previously employed by MC Woods in the Kempton Park area, specialising in kitchen renovations and the like. It was accepted and agreed to by all of us, that the R 86 500 should be utilised to do this kitchen project and at the end of the project, a reconciliation shall take place and any funds owed to me shall be repaid.

There was an ancillary "small" project for the fixing of cracks and painting of the houses outside walls which i paid just more than R 5000 over to him (70%) of his quote. I am an advocate of profession, and not experienced in the field, but by no stretch of the imagination could i understand why they were using poly filler on the outside walls, in any event he was stopped with this project due to the fact that he was incompetent in doing this work and misrepresented himself as being an expert in the field.

In any event, yesterday 13 October 2022 he arrogantly repudiated the agreement to finish the kitchen project as agreed. On this point, the only work that was done is a trench in the middle of my "old" living room leading to the outside part of my house which was laid for purposes of the installing of gas pipes, nothing more and nothing less. He left the house in unliveable conditions, and simply caused damages to my property.

I then contacted him and stated to him that i accept his repudiation of the agreement and that he should repay my funds immediately. He then stated that he will do a reconciliation on the work done (keeping in mind that there was a hole in the ground with some second-hand rubbish steel he left there and a trench in the middle of my living room). I awaited this reconciliation in anticipation...

During the morning 14 October 2022 i received a breakdown of the "work" he had done titled "Swembad en Kombuis"

He stated the following in his ill-founded, ill-conceived and baseless email to me:

" Goeie dag Andries Ek wil graag die kostes wat ek beloop het op die swembad bespreek en tot 'n ooreenkoms met jou kom sodat ons die dinge kan afhandel. Soos jy weet het op die quote dinge gestaan wat ons gedoen het uit ons profeit (sic) sou gekom het en ook extra tyd wat ons spandeer het sou ook uit ons profeit (sic) gekom he. Ek wil graag die volgende met jou deel en vir wat gedoen was: 1. Labor week 1: R 2400-00 2. Labor week 3 : R 6000-00 3. Labor week 5: R 10 000-00 4. Brandstof @ R 300pd x 25 dae= R 7500-00 5. My Labor @ R 500pdx 25 dae= R 12 500-00 6. 2x drom verf wat by jou is @ R 1600-00 each = R 3200-00 7. Staal ref395 mesh = R 8773 (after he stated it cost him R 2000) 8. Herstel van waterpyp= R 450-00 9. Rommel verwyder= R 8140-00 (wag nog vir een invoice wat nie ingesluit is nie)

Ek hoop jy kan saamstem met die kostes en dat ek die verskil kan terug betaal aan jou. Ek hoor terug van jou. Hoop jy het 'n awesome dag verder Groete Bradley"

It is important to remember that I have a hole in my floor inside the house and a hole in my garden with second hand s**** steel lying on the grass. His breakdown dispatched to me is no in any manner whatsoever contained in his quotations (R 10 000-00 for the labour, digging hole etc) and that is it. He would on 99% of days drop his labourers at the house and leave. This fiction of his imagination breakdown of expenses alleged incurred and expended by him, not supported by any quote, exposed the real and true modus operandi withing which category his business model falls. He forgot that he repudiated the agreement in any event.

This company and Bradley/ Mckellar Basset or whatever other alias's he operate by has been EXPOSED. They are busy with nothing more than illegal activities. They charge deposits, then they do a little work, not handing over a project at all, he repudiated the agreement and then endeavours to introduce some form of baseless and still born set-off/ reconciliation procedure not supported by the facts or the law.

I stated to him during the course of today, that on his own calculation, he should immediately repay R 27 537-00 which i will accept under protest and which he is not entitled to, he stated that will not happen today, but later next week. The rest of the funds in his possession which i want an immediate full repayment of, litigation will be instituted against him and his company. I will institute Civil Proceedings and Criminal Proceedings.

The Point here is this individual under the auspices of his company or companies or under the aliases of whatever different names cannot and should not trade in the respective building industries. This cannot and should not be tolerated and other general consumers reading this is NOW CLEARLY and UNEQUIVOCALLY warned.
