The stuff is soo rude. They will make you work until 00:00 and expect you to uber yourself home after they told you they would pay for your uber. They call it overtime but they won’t pay you.

From the moment of the interview, it was clear that Gadget Boss lacked professionalism. The process was riddled with inappropriate personal questions that had no relevance to my qualifications or the role I was applying for. It felt invasive and unprofessional. The company is owned by a Nigerian couple, and unfortunately, their management style is highly concerning. Employees are often scolded publicly, treated with disrespect, and made to feel undervalued. The female owner, in particular, has a dismissive attitude toward employees, refusing to acknowledge or take accountability for her own mistakes. Job roles are not honored; you may be hired for one position but quickly find yourself juggling responsibilities from multiple roles without additional compensation or acknowledgment. This exploitative practice disproportionately affects young South Africans who may not be fully aware of their employment rights. The moment you assert your rights or question unfair treatment, your employment is abruptly terminated. The working hours are another major issue. While the official schedule is from 8 AM to 5 PM, employees often find themselves working until as late as 11 PM without fair compensation for overtime. Any attempts to claim rightful overtime are met with mockery rather than resolution. The Department of Labour urgently needs to investigate and address the practices of this company to protect vulnerable young workers who are simply trying to make a living. If you're considering joining Gadget Boss, proceed with caution. The environment is toxic, and working there can have a severe impact on your mental health and overall well-being.

I am writing this as a former employee of Gadget Boss, not out of spite, but out of a deep concern for the wellbeing of others who might unknowingly walk into what I can only describe as a deeply abusive and toxic work environment. The conditions at Gadget Boss are nothing short of exploitative. Staff are expected to work excessive hours, far beyond their contracts, often staying until 2 a.m.—without proper overtime compensation. The company enforces a baffling and unfair policy that only considers overtime from 8 p.m. onwards, regardless of how long an employee has already worked. This is not only *********—it’s wage theft. But what is worse than the long hours is the treatment of the people who work there. Mrs. Kofi, the company’s owner, has created a culture of ************, humiliation, and emotional abuse. She speaks to employees with open hostility, regularly calling them “stupid,” shouting at them in front of others, and belittling even the smallest mistakes. She shows no interest in training or developing her team and expects people to "figure it out" immediately or suffer the consequences. If you ask for help, you’re seen as weak or ***********. Even more disturbing are her openly discriminatory remarks, particularly against South African staff. I have personally heard her express her dislike for South Africans and watched her treat them as inferior. No matter how committed or capable you are, if you're South African, your efforts are dismissed, and you are constantly made to feel inadequate. This behavior is not just unprofessional—it is deeply offensive and discriminatory. Employees who give their all are discarded without hesitation. I know of a colleague who worked tirelessly, performing HR duties and other critical functions, often staying overnight to meet deadlines—yet she was insulted, underpaid, and eventually forced out without any appreciation for her work. She was earning less than R6,000 while doing the job of three people. Meanwhile, Mr. Kofi occasionally steps in to mediate, but his attempts are often undermined by his wife’s relentless abuse of power. The environment is so toxic that people walk out mid-shift or fall into depression from the emotional toll. Gadget Boss is not a workplace—it is a hostile, degrading space that breaks people down. To the South African labour authorities: This company must be investigated. What’s happening here is a violation of basic human rights and labour laws. No one deserves to be treated this way—not for a paycheck, and certainly not in silence. To job seekers: Avoid Gadget Boss at all costs. No job is worth sacrificing your self-worth, mental health, and dignity. You deserve better. To Mrs. Kofi: The way you treat people will catch up with you. Power doesn’t excuse abuse. What you’re doing is not strong leadership—it’s cruelty disguised as authority.

The Worst. Don’t even try going to work there. No matter how desperate you are. Those people will treat you like kids. I worked there for 3 weeks and they only trained me for 2 days. When you do not know things they never taught you they call you stupid and they tell you to leave because you are a cost to the company. The company is owned by a Nigerian couple Mr Oroh Kofi and Mrs Efe Kofi. Those people buy unwanted stock at china mall and sell them to people at a higher price. And they don’t do refunds or exchange. Those people are rude and they don’t know how to manage a business. They need to be reported for real.

I had heard negative reviews about this company, but I decided to attend an interview to form my own opinion. I arrived 15 minutes early and ended up waiting for over an hour for my turn. While waiting, I observed a few concerning things. First, there was a uni*** toilet right next to the entrance, which seemed poorly maintained this struck me as the first red flag. Secondly, the female owner came down to where we were waiting but didn’t acknowledge or greet us, which I found unprofessional. During the interview, I learned they were looking for an HR Generalist who would be underpaid and required to work on some Saturdays. There were many aspects of this company’s culture and operations that seemed problematic and unappealing.

No matter how desperate you are, DO NOT WORK FOR THOSE PEOPLE. The company is good but it is ran by an uneducated Nigerian woman who wants to be right in everything. Your skills there would be made to look useless. She should just leave and give a chance to educated people to work around that company otherwise it is going to collapse.

Honestly the worst online supplier I have ever bought from. The product was non functional (commonly known as 'broken') and incomplete - shipped without a user manual so it was most likely second hand or perhaps an item that had previously been returned for being non-functional. The process took forever although I did get a refund eventually. Their online presence is unprofessional and seriously ***** (their website is a free wix website and looks like a 6 year old child slapped it together as a school project) and their admin system seems to be as useless as the products they ship because they sent correspondence to the wrong email address and If I didnt contact Makro i would never have known what is going on. my rating is one star but if there was a zero star rating I would have given that.
