Emilio and his Team were absolutely fantastic! We had a terrible problem with the paving at our business premises and had a few previous contractors out to fix it. Well, all they did was make it worse. I came across Genesis Paving when I was searching for a reputable paving contractor to sort out the mess. It was a big project as the paved area is large. No problem to Genesis Paving - they came in assessed the situation, gave us a thoroughly explained recommendation and a detailed breakdown of the costing and the rest is history as they say 😊 Take my advice - don't even get other quotes, you might find cheaper, but you'll definitely not find better!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Genesis Construction for a home renovation project, and I must say, they exceeded all my expectations. From the commencement of the project to the completion of the project, their professionalism and dedication to quality was evident. The communication throughout the project was seamless. The team was always prompt in responding to my requests and concerns, and they kept me updated on the progress every step of the way. This level of transparency and attentiveness truly made the entire process stress-free. The workmanship and quality displayed by Genesis Construction is unparalleled. They paid meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every aspect of the renovation was executed flawlessly. Whether it was installing the new tiles, revamping the kitchen, and updating the bathrooms, the end results were nothing short of stunning. Not only did they deliver exceptional quality, but they also completed the project within the agreed-upon timeline and budget. Their efficiency and commitment to customer satisfaction is truly commendable. Overall, we couldn't be happier with the outcome of our home renovation. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of reliable and top-notch construction services. They have definitely earned my trust and future business.

I hired Genesis Construction to complete two projects in my apartment. Once the site inspection was done, I received a comprehensive quote and was pleasantly surprised at the level of knowledge by the contractor. Sadly, this is where the pleasant experience ended! The first project, which was kitchen tiling and the movement of one cupboard was promised to be completed in 3 days; it took 1 week to complete. I was constantly fed with excuses, delays, and poor communication. This all, even after I took 3 days off from work to be present for the commencement. Materials supp**** by Genesis Construction were short and insufficient for the project, I had to then purchase the additional items after hours. The cupboard was not built to spec to fill the space, it was hacked to allow for plumbing and pipes. The door could not close (no solution was provided) and was hanging on by two *****s. The area under the dishwasher and cupboard was note tiled. Shortcuts were taken in placing the dishwasher plumbing and pipes, this resulted in a 4-month leak, which rotted the cupboards, damped the walls, and gave rise to additional expenses for repair to correctly install. The lack of on-site supervision and professionalism made this a stressful ordeal. I had also contracted Genesis Construction to replace all steel frame windows to aluminum frames. Once again, the quote was comprehensive, and the contractor seemed knowledgeable. This is where all pleasantries ended! After weeks of promising commencement, I was fed excuses from load shedding, poor weather conditions, traffic, and delays at manufacturers etc. I was assured the framed were procured and they were ready to start. Many emails, messages and calls later, Genesis Construction was a no show and eventually cancelled the project from their side. It took two and a half months to get a refund, at which they still deducted 15% for a handling fee, after THEY cancelled the project. The contractor changed his number around early November without prior notification, this only led to more frustrations. One star is being generous!

I had work done during the course of last year by Genesis Construction. In early January of this year tree roots lifted my patio floor, nearly all my tiles cracked, the pillars supporting the roof started cracking as well. I phoned Emilio and within a few hours he was at my house. Emilio arranged the structural engineers assessment and report, and Genesis Construction based their quote off of that. The works commenced during late January and completed this week. This was the second time that I have used Genesis Construction and the team led by Emilio and Shane. The service was incredible, the professionalism was incredible, the efficiency was incredible and it was an absolute pleasure working them. I couldn't be more happy with the results and i would sincerely recommend Genesis Construction to anyone who needs construction work.

Our Body Corporate contracted Genesis Construction to route water from a gutter downpipe to a surface drain. The work involved laying a PVC drainage channel through an existing tiled pathway directly in front of a lobby access gate. After the initial site inspection, trustees received a comprehensive quote. Based on this and positive online reviews, trustees approved the quote for the drain work and paid substantial deposits for this - as also for a second maintenance project involving the replacement of damaged soffits to be carried out afterwards. However, once work commenced we had to deal with several annoying issues. Genesis Constructions’s focus appeared to be on another larger project and the necessary staff and tools were not made available for the project. Genesis kept on delaying the commencement date and after eventually arriving on site, the project manager decided to make a detour to buy some items saying he would return shortly but took hours. Genesis did not provide a sufficiently long extension cord to connect to our complex’s power supply and would later claim an additional R699 for purchasing a longer extension lead when in fact one of the trustees had to lend him her own cord to extend the short lead provided. The workers were supp**** with a puny 115mm angle grinder to cut through the thick slate path tiles and made extremely slow progress. The specs were clear in that reclaimed and/or spare tiles would be used to edge the drain but instead we got a messy concrete edging with no consultation. The project manager later claimed that he could not cut the tiles thin enough! Excavation of the channel loosened one of the paving tiles which he refused to fix. Instead of deepening the drain from the path to the outfall he laid a pipe, falsely claiming that there was insufficient fall. Instead of taking the promised two days to complete the job, it in fact took 4 days due to the lack of project supervision and frequent down times - and the rubble took over a week to collect and then then only after much prompting. The last straw was when a trustee was confronted by angry workers on the last day when they demanded to be paid or threatened to remain on the property until this was settled. When urgently contacted to resolve this internal matter, Genesis refused to appear on site to sort this out claiming that the workers knew that they would get paid when the work was signed off. The trustee concerned was fortunately able to remain calm and reason with the workers and after some time they eventually left the property. After committing to inspecting and signing off the drain project (as stipulated in the contract), Genesis was a no-show on the agreed day and time without explanation, and our multiple calls and messages were not responded to, the result being that snags could not be flagged and rectified as pledged in the contract. Genesis did not subsequently offer another date for the sign off. We then cancelled the soffit replacement job given our dismal experience with this contractor. While the balance of payment for the drain work could reasonably have been withheld until the sign-off was done and problems resolved, Genesis Construction, to our horror, simply proceeded to unilaterally deduct full payment for the drain project (adding in the supposed cost for an extension cord) from the total of all our deposits leaving only a small refund. Given Genesis’ unresponsiveness to our communications, the trustees and our portfolio manager finally gave up trying to negotiate with this company and, left with no choice, were compelled to engage another contractor at extra cost to make good the multiple defects of the job. A zero rating to this company if it were possible.

Genesis Construction represented by the Cape Town branch director Emilio Montanari , were employed by our body corporate to route water from a downpipe to a surface drain. The work involved laying a PVC drainage channel through an existing tiled pathway in front of an inner access gate to the lobby. After a site inspection by Emilio, trustees received his comprehensive quote. Based on this and positive online reviews, trustees approved the quote for the drain work and paid substantial deposits for this, as also for a second maintenance project involving the replacement of damaged soffits to be carried out afterwards. However, once work commenced we were faced with many problems. Emilio’s focus appeared to be on another larger project and he did not make the necessary staff and tools available for our project. • He kept on delaying commencement and after eventually arriving on site, he decided to make a detour to buy some items saying he would return shortly but took hours. • He did not provide a 30 metre extension cord to connect to our complex’s power supply and would later claim an additional R699 for providing a longer extension lead when in fact one of the trustees had to lend him her own cord to extend his own short lead. • His workers were supp**** with a puny 115mm angle grinder to cut through the thick slate path tiles and made extremely slow progress. The specs were clear in that he would use reclaimed and/or spare tiles provided to edge the drain but we instead got a messy concrete edging - he claimed that he could not cut the tiles thin enough. • His excavation of the channel loosened one of the paving tiles which he refused to fix. • Instead of deepening the drain from the path to the outfall he laid a pipe, falsely claiming that there was insufficient fall. • Instead of taking the promised two days to complete the job, it actually took 4 days due to the lack of project supervision and frequent down times - and the rubble took over a week to collect and then then only after much prompting. • After committing to inspecting and signing off the work with the trustees, Emilio was a no show on the agreed day and time and our multiple calls and messages were not responded to, the result being that snags could not be flagged and rectified as pledged in his quote. Neither could we withhold the balance of payment until this was done as Emilio had already received deposits for this job and for the soffit replacement project that we signed up for but then cancelled given our bad experience with the drain work. He then had the nerve to take full payment for the drain work, added the supposed cost for the extension card, and after a long delay he refunded the small amount left over. • The body corporate has been left with no other option but to engage another contractor at extra cost to make good the multiple defects of the job. In addition to Emilio’s arrogant attitude, lack of professionalism and shoddy work, there was also his bad handling and blatant disregard for the safety of a female trustee who was swarmed by his angry workers on the final day when they demanded to be paid or remain on site. When urgently contacted to resolve this internal matter, Emilio refused to appear on site to sort this out. The trustee concerned was fortunately able to remain calm and reason with the workers and they eventually left the property. We would award this comapny a zero rating if it were possible!

I appointed Genesis Construction to install downpipes and gutters on my house. They asked me to pay upfront, which I did. I made the payment on 27 June and they have not come to install it yet. After a month of waiting, they offered me a 50% refund. I never received the refund. I followed up numerous times through phone calls and emails. Every time there was an excuse for why they have not come to install the downpipes and gutter yet. Eventually my phone number got blocked and I cannot get through to them anymore.
