Genups Africa - false marketing and sub standard products
Hi All I am writing this review as a warning to first time generator buyers. My wife recently bought a restaurant which required a 50 KVA generator, so I started looking for a decent second hand one with low hours. I found one on facebook being sold by a company called Genups Africa (Rob Graham). It was advertized as a Perkins 50KVA. I made an appointment and went through and had a look at the generator. Rob was not there so I spoke with the technician Leonard. Leonard told me that the generator only had 400 hours on it and was in good condition. He couldn’t get the genie started as they couldn’t find any charged batteries but said he would send a video of it started later, which he did. After consulting with Rob telephonically I agreed to purchase what looked like a genie in good working order with low hours. It was delivered and installed at our restaurant by Genups Africa (Leonard). Leonard explained that the genie could handle the full load of the restaurant so no isolation necessary. (Mid March) Any way to cut a long ordeal short - we have not been able to use the genie since the installation. The ATS looses power when the electricity goes off, when we do get it started it leaks diesel everywhere, it is constantly over heating due to blocked radiator, and all of this after it was confirmed that it had 400 hours on it and it was services before installation. Rob’s technician, Leonard os never available so I had to get another crew on site to help me fix the problems we were experiencing. I was personally on site when they had to flush the radiator due to the machine over heating, the liquid coming out was black, could never be 400 hours of use. This new crew showed me that the genie was bits and pieces of old machines put together and then resprayed to make it look new and it was never a silent genie as it was made to look. I spent R129k with Genups Africa in good faith that I was buying something to make our lives easier but to be honest I bought a lie and now sit with the consequences thereof. I want my money back or the machine swopped out for a legitimate decent secondhand machine that I thought I was buying. However please be careful of buying through this company as they are not honest and above board. This is really a case of what you see is not what you get.

Don't do business with this company!!!
Promised a Generator and on 99% said it's no longer available for buying as he made arrangements for renting it out... After order was given and viewing was arranged. Oh and lied about the generator being "faulty" Pathetic service. Don't trust this guy! Take your business somewhere else.
