We contacted the Germiston & Bedfordview SPCA after seeing a kitten on their Facebook page that we wanted to adopt.
Details of the kitten are as follows: Cattery 16 Tabby Female +- 8 weeks
We are from Pretoria and drove all the way to Germiston SPCA to view the Kitten on 14 February and get ready to take her home. We payed adoption deposit and were told that they would transfer the case to Pretoria SPCA in order for them to perform home inspection before we can take her home.
After 3 days of no communication, we phoned them on 17 Feb. We were informed that she is too young to be sterilized and that we have to wait for 2 MONTHS before we can take her home. When we asked if we could not take her home and sterilize her ourselves, as we have done with our other cats, we got a strict "no"
This is HEARTBREAKING. Why should the kitten have to stay at the SPCA for a FURTHER 2 MONTHS if she already has a loving home ready for her appearance? And why did they not tell us this before we paid deposit for the kitten and fell in love with her?
There has to be another way to do this. This is unacceptable!
