I had to make an unplanned booking at G&C for a tappet cover gasket replacement, it unfortunately escalated to more needed repairs with analysis. Shaun kept me up to date all the time, went out of his way to find cheaper options for parts, which he did successfully, a huge thank you to Shaun, also, to the technician involved and once again also thank you to Oom Piet for picking me up and dropping again and the lekke chats, as always, once again. THIS SERVICE PROVIDER IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Took my car for a minor service, received world class customer service from the moment I contacted Shaun for a quote he was constantly in contact with me up until the day I was scheduled. Had a great experience with the team on the day and I am very happy with work done on my vehicle, I will definitely be back for all my cars needs, thanks again Shaun and team.

I contacted the Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI) regarding an issue with my vehicle, which was not running properly due to work done by an RMI-approved workshop. All basic logic indicated the issue fell under the original workshop’s warranty (within 6 months or 10,000 km), as they failed to address the problem adequately. Instead of resolving the matter with the original workshop, RMI instructed me to take my vehicle to Goch & Cooper Auto Services, located nearly an hour away, despite my concerns about the distance and relevance of involving another workshop.Upon arriving at Goch & Cooper, I was directed to a coffee area where service flyers were prominently displayed on the table. Within moments, an RMI representative arrived, and before any assessment of my vehicle began, the representative pointed out the flyers and discussed additional services, such as a full multipoint check and a special service package. Shortly after, a mechanic joined us, and after a brief test drive, I was told my vehicle required the exact services mentioned in the flyers, which felt premature since the car had not been thoroughly inspected.I found this process concerning for several reasons. First, it was unclear why my complaint about the original RMI-approved workshop’s warranty breach required me to visit a different workshop, especially one so far away. Second, the immediate focus on additional paid services, before a proper diagnosis, left me feeling pressured, as it was three mechanics and an RMI representative discussing these services against my sole perspective. I expected the process to focus on addressing the original workshop’s potential malpractice under their warranty terms, but this was not discussed.Overall, the experience at Goch & Cooper did not resolve my original complaint and instead left me questioning the necessity of their involvement. After posting an initial one-star review about this experience on Google, I was informed that Goch & Cooper complained to RMI about the feedback, seemingly upset about the rating despite their conduct and all the facts that lead to that point. This only added to my existing disappointment, as I expected a focus on addressing my concerns, not challenging my right to share my experience and protect public interests. I hope future customers receive clearer explanations about why specific workshops are chosen and how warranty disputes are handled. Transparency and accountability would have made a significant difference.

ZERO Stars!!! Allow me to explain a situation to you. A couple of weeks ago I had the unfortunate incident happen to me where my Cam Belt broke on my VW Amarok and I was devastated. I was advised by Bosch Service Center to get the vehicle to Goch and Cooper as they specialize in repairs like this, I was also under the impression that I had maybe only bent valves on the Amarok, I called G&C and spoke to Shaun Godsil and immediately felt at ease that my vehicle is with the correct people to fix my Amarok. Shaun was professional and I was excited, I arranged to get the Amarok to them to assess and start with quotes on what the Repairs were going to be. I was contacted on the day the vehicle arrived by them, Shaun told me they had tested the Amarok and could not get a reading and they needed to strip the Head off the engine which would cost almost R800 per hour and it would be 6 x Hours to strip the Head, I said go ahead. A week and a half later, I get told that the Engine is not repairable, and I need to have the entire Engine replaced, I get sent photos which now I am not even sure it was photos of my parts, I get told the Head is messed up, Valves are Bent, Rockers are broken and Camshafts are damaged too. I ask for a quote...R225,000.00 to fit a 2nd Hand Motor, this is worth more than the car!!!! According to the Quote, the Block took some damage, the Piston is cracked, basically my original Engine cannot be repaired, their Quote is worth more than what the car is worth, I said NO! I will come and fetch my car, I get there the next day to fetch the car that has been stripped, how can you tell me the Block took some damage if you haven't even dropped the Pistons out to inspect the Block??? Anyway, I pay them R6,700.00 for the Labour of stripping the Head and for the Engineer's Report and off I go with my Amarok loaded onto a flatbed.I tell the Mechanics in the Workshop what I have been Quoted by G&C for the Repairs and tell them what they stipulated on their Quote and this is why I am fetching my Vehicle...they laugh and Role their eyes to say that G&C are trying to pull a fast one as the damage is not as their Quote stipulated, I even asked Shaun for a simple cheaper Quote just to get the vehicle Driving so that I can sell it, he tells me still it would be more than R100k just to get it driving.2 of their Mechanics offered to fix my car for me Privately as they both said it was just the Head that took damage and I was quoted by their own Mechanics between R4500 and R5500 to fix my Amarok provided I got/sourced the Parts myself...I will not mention their names in order to protect them and their jobs, but I have messages and written Quotes to prove this is what was discussed.I take my car home, I get 2 x Additional and Independent Mechanics to come and inspect my Amarok, both tell me it is just the Head and they can fix it for me.Needless to say, I have bought all the Spares for the Head of my Amarok, it was just Valvles, Rockers and some smaller parts, the Head was pressure tested, no cracks, the Head just needs to be skimmed a little bit...So Parts and skimming has cost me R15,000.00 and Labour to put everything together is costing me R5500.00. So...from an Original Quote of R225000.00 down to R20500.00 is a difference of R204500.00. Shaun, you were brilliant at communicating, but I am sorry, it is not worth R200k, G&C are looking at making money and ripping you off. I will never advise anyone to come to you, even the people you have overcharged in the past probably did not know of any better and I feel sorry for them. Your own Mechanics that wanted to fix my car now know how overpriced you are and how you are trying to shaft people. I wish I could take this to the News and whatever to show how G&C rip the public off, life is already expensive and you have just proven to me that your business in not ethical, truthful and how just plain disgusting you are. Please note that everything I have stipulated here is based on facts as I have quotes, messages and photos to prove this. No man G&C... do better!!!

Goch and Cooper Auto service offered great customer care and service. They kept me up to date throughout the whole service procedure of my vehicle and was able to sort out any additional work which was needed. Would definitely recommend to any fellow drivers who are in need of some Car doctors.
