Hi. We had a terrible experience with a plumbing company in Rustenburg - namely Greens Plumbing (S W Robert t/a Greens Plumbing)

We asked them to give us a quote on installing a normal bathtub etc. in our flatlet (not a free standing bath, just a normal bath) After they installed that bath etc (which was a cheap bath and cheap fittings) we asked them to give us a quote on also installing a bath, basins etc. in our main bedroom's bathroom.

They then started putting in pipes, started putting taps onto the his and hers cabinets, but not fixing it to the wall - as the tiling had to be done before that. Our builder had to wait for them to finish with all the pipes, and then he would put the tiles on the walls and floor - and then they would come back to attach the fittings and fix it to the pipes etc.

We waited for long, and tried to get hold of them many times. The lady answering the phone NEVER gave us the number of the plumber - but she misunderstood what was going on, because she said they are waiting for us. We kept on phoning her and telling her that the builder is waiting for them, because not only did they not close the large whole in the wall, they also had a pipe on the floor, which was supposed to be buried under the floor level - which was NOT under the floor level. It was aabout 5cm ABOVE the floor level.

When they eventually decided to come and see what we were talking about they saw that the builder could not continue, as they first had to close the whole in the wall, and bury the pipe under the floor level. They then closed the whole and buried the pipe. They then put the bath on a heap of soil, and left.

We phoned them again and said that the builder cannot tile against the bath if the bath is not completely installed with the wall around the 2 sides of the bath.

It took us long again to speak to the plumber, or the "owner" (who is the plumber's dad) to find out what was going on. Eventually talking to the lady who answers their phone many times, they came to our house to "see what the problem was" - they gave 2 different stories. The plumber started saying he is sorry, but their builder deserted, and they could not get hold of a builder - the dad (the owner) then interrupted him and said that the quote they gave us was not for a built in bath, but for a freestanding bath. They said that we can look on quote for flatlet's bath, it was written differently than this quote.

They said that we must get the builder to build the wall around the bath - we then paid the builder for something we already paid for - (although, afterwards we compared the two quotes, and it was not written differently, but we accepted it like that - because we wanted to get done with the renovations -) Even if they just told us earlier that their builder left, we could have made a plan, but there were no communication -

The builder then came to build the wall around the bath before tiling, and saw that the bath was the wrong way around - and that the one pipe beneath the bath, was folded over, and would have blocked if he left it like that. We asked them to fix it and they said nothing was wrong with the bath. We then had to pay the builder to also take out the bath, and re-install it. He also redid the pipe underneath the bath.

When he was done, re-installing the bath, pipe etc. we called them again to finish the tap fittings, basin cabinets etc.

For this bathroom we bought extremely expensive and elegant taps and fittings, because it was for the main bedroom. When they were done we saw that they did not put the bath mixer in the middle of the bath, it was about 10 cm to one side (the bath is designed to have the mixer in the middle, so on both sides in the middle, the rim is more narrow than the rest of the rim, for this pipe to hang, and not bulge over and put strain on the hair shower pipe, by twisting it) but, they had it like this - and we also accepted it not being in the middle as we asked them to put it.

BUT - what we could not accept was the fact that all 3 mixers, the bath, and the "his"and "hers"they had the water the wrong way around. All the mixer fittings has the letters "H" and "C" carved out on the flat bars of the mixer- obviously "H" for hot, and "C" for cold.

We then stuggled to get hold of them and get them to come and fix this problem. Eventually one day the plumber phoned and said that he is going to our house to fix it. We then moved back to our main bedroom the next day. When I got into the bath I saw that he never fixed the water of the bath. The "H" was still cold, and the "C" was hot. They only fixed the water of the basins and not that of the bath mixer. They also did not even phone us to tell us that they had a problem or that they did not fix it or why. We then stuggled more than ever to get hold of them. This time the communication could not have been too difficult to misunderstand. They just had to come and fix the bath mixer - by installing it correctly, hot where hot must be and cold where cold must be. We had to constantly phone, and after more than 3 weeks, one day while we were busy with wage negotiations the "owner" - (the father of the plumber) phoned me and said he is outside our house to look at the problem with our bath mixer. I then told our house help to let him in to look at the tap problem. I then went to our wage negotiations meeting. When I came out from the meeting I saw that I had 2 or 3 missed calls from Green's plumbing. It was after 5, so I knew I could not phone them, as I do not have their cell number - so I decided I will phone them the next day to hear what they wanted to discuss. When we got home, we saw that they drilled a whole into our expensive elegant bath mixer, without even asking us permission to destroy our property in the process, and then plugged some plastic blue and red indicator in the whole they drilled. Our bath mixer looks horrible now, and it looks like a joke. Because the bath mixer is indicating hot and cold on each side.

On the one side there is a "H" for hot, and a blue for cold

On the other side there is a "C"for cold, and a red for hot.

We cannot believe they damaged our property like that. They must buy exacly the same mixer, which goes with all the other fittings, and install it the correct way around as they were supposed to in the first place. (for which we paid them)
