We had an extremely disappointing experience with Hardstone Construction, hired at the start of 2025 to replace the roof of our granny flat. The workmanship was shockingly poor, and Mr. van der Westhuizen, the owner and project manager, was seldom on site to supervise. Unsurprisingly, the roof started leaking badly during the first rains, which happened over a long weekend just after the job was finished. When we urgently contacted Mr. van der Westhuizen to fix the problem, he refused outright and instead reproached us for disrespecting him by "disturbing" him during his time off. This showed a complete lack of professionalism and responsibility. Even worse, despite offering a five-year guarantee, he has completely failed to honour it. In the end, we had no choice but to hire another roofing contractor to repair the mess, which cost us a great deal extra - all because of Hardstone Construction's incompetence and unprofessional conduct. We strongly warn others: avoid this company at all costs.
