Every time that I go to the hospices in Belville it feels like I am part of a bigger family. The personnel are so friendly and the prices of the items affordable.Up to now I have bought about 8 rare items at a price that was affordable.Althoigh all the items are donated to hospice,it is still affordable to purchase by the general public.Items which the poor cannot generally afford can be purchased at Hospice at a low price. Both the Hospices in Belville are run well.I love visiting both on one day. What I cannot buy at the one is sometimes available at the other. Hospice also visits me in my apartment to take my blood pressure and sugar levels. This is done with a smile and at no cost at all. Hospice is dependant upon donations of goods so they can sell it in order to cover their costs. Well done Hospice.I am so proud of you all. May blessings always come your way.

Disgusting experience at the hospice shop in Scottburgh with my two kids. My kids, 4 and 6 years old donated about 30 teddy bears for the first time. It was a big thing for them to have sorted through their teddy bears and decide to donate them. We thought Hospice was a good choice, as we have always been donating old clothes and things to them. I took my kids to the hospice shop with all their teddies, and they were excited to finally donate them after all the motivation from their parents on how good an idea this is. We got to the hospice shop and the car guard helped us unload this mountain of teddies. She then led us into the shop and started taking the teddies to the back. I assume she know the staff and managers, coz they let her into the back without objection. Next thing I heard one staff member comment, "oh wow, my dog is going to love that big giraffe", referring to one of the teddies. My children stood there while the car guard kept returning to take more teddies out of their hands and disappearing to the back. I don't look for recognition or a pat on the back, but after making such a big decision, for them, not a single person thanked either one of my kids or even acknowledged them or the fact that they were there doing something "good". When the teddies were all taken to the back, we stood there and people, including staff looked at us as if we're standing in the way... so we started leaving. after we walked out, the guy behind the till suddenly shouted after me, as if in after thought, thank you for your donation. We were already out the shop and the kids out of earshot. Nobody even acknowledged these two kids after, for them, this big thing they just did. in retrospect, I deeply regret not turning around and taking everything back to take somewhere else. As we drove off, with every second that passed, I felt more and more sick to my stomach and disappointed with MYSELF for having taken my kids into such an ungrateful, disregarding, filthy-attitude place. My kids sat in silence, confused as to what it is they just did. You guys will never ever receive a single thing from my entire family ever again, and as far as I can help it, nor any other person I know.

This is the email I wrote to Hospice in Rustenburg (Boshoff Street) To whom it may concern, I am writing this letter of complaint to raise your awareness on how Hospice in Rustenburg treat their customers. I am extremely upset by the poor and rude service my mom received by the staff members on Friday, 28 January 2022. My mother, who suffers with stage 3 breast cancer and Chronic Asthma reached out in person for help at the Hospice Rustenburg Centre in Boshoff street. She was in extreme pain and felt hopeless. This is not the first time that Hospice clearly ''refused'' to assist or provide care for her in 'any' possible way. According to google, ''Hospice care is for people who are nearing end of life. The services are provided by a team of health care professionals who maximize comfort for a person who is terminally ill by reducing pain and addressing physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs.'' My mother has been battling with cancer for more than two years, and spends most of her time home alone where she needs someone to assist her and check in on her. My mother also asked if they can help her with any pain medication since she can't afford it and doesn't have medical aid. Instead, she was looked and without any hesitation just referred her to Cansa. I am the daughter of Cynthia Mey, and situated in Cape Town. It is heartbreaking to see that people that offers services for care, are so careless (hence I'm so far away). You state on your website that at Hospice in Rustenburg there is ''no end to caring'' which is absolutely not the case. I am going to take this matter further, this is unacceptable.

My mom had a Stroke a month ago, following which she has been in and out of Hospitals with Seizures etc, but with no Medical Aid, she ended up in Government Hospitals who thought it well to hit an old lady, we only found out about this a week after she was discharged and could do nothing about it. Anyway, before I go off subject..... we took my mom to FWC Hospice in Hursthill, Johannesburg, we felt cared for from the moment they answered the phone, they really have the patient's best interest at heart and care deeply for their wellbeing. I can say with an open heart that Lucille and Liezl at FWC Hospice made us feel that we were leaving my mom in great hands, and that she would be looked after like a family member. I have asked my mom on a couple of occasions what she ate to see if she can remember, then she says :"I can't remember, but I know it was very tasty" FWC Hospice, I Salute You for what you do for people like us out there. I will definitely send more business your way, seeing that Covid19 messed up most businesses. Thank you once again for the pleasantness and understanding. Carina Pretorius

I realize that Hospice charity shops need funding, but why do they sell goods that are either broken, torn apart, in a bad condition, it can't be fixed. Some of these goods are not cheap at all thus poor people can hardly afford to buy. If they can't give it away for free, rather sell it for R1, R2 or R5. One can buy brand new goods for R10 or more at the shops.

Die winkels is so oorvol....... Arm mense kan nie meer bekostig om daar te koop nie. In elk geval, 'n persoon kan vir R5 of R10 meer dieselfde item, nuut by 'n winkel gaan koop.

On saturday, 15 august 2015, I had the absolute pleasure of visiting hospice pennington.
On entering the shop I was overwhelmed by the reception of the two ladies who operate this branch.
I have visited other hospice shops in kzn and I applaud you two ladies. You carry out your duties with so much positive energy and huge smiles. Your friendliness is appreciated.
On entering the store with 6 other family members I had no intention of purchasing. Your politeness and love for your job won me. On leaving your store all 7 of us made purchases of items we didn't really need, but purchased to support you. Whenever I visit the south coast you can be guaranteed of my ongoing support. May you always be abundantly blessed for the work you do for Hospice.
