So my daughter graduated 26/06/2024. Prior to graduation we were asked to pay a hiring fee of R240.00 and upon collection of the gown, a further "security fee" of R300.00 in cash were payable. The R300.00 cash were returned when I returned her gown, however since following up on the R240.00 hiring fee - I was advised that it's non-refundable. where you ever heard of such? no where in their form does it state the R240.00 non refundable. The agent I spoke to in KZN advised that I'm supposedly the 1st person to enquire about a refund on hiring fee??? I'm beyond upset

I hired a graduation gown for a graduation celebration for my niece for Saturday 25 May 2024. I went to collect the attire on Thursday 23 May for which I paid a R200 deposit (the instructions that I was sent stipulated that the attire could be collected from 5 days of this date). I indicated that as the celebration was on a weekend I would only be able to return the attire on the following Monday (27 May). I was assured that this was in order (the instructions that I was sent stipulated that the attire needed to be returned within 3 working days, otherwise a fine of R100 per day would be levied). When I returned home on the Thursday after collecting the attire I noticed that the mortar had not been included. My niece had to make a special trip to collect this on the Friday afternoon. I returned the attire on the Monday (27 May) following the graduation ceremony, and despite the fact that I had collected the attire within the 5 day period stipulated, and returned it within the 3 day period stipulated I was fined R100 for a late return - this even after physically pointing out these clauses on the on the forms that I had been sent. In my view this is a completely unacceptable and unprofessional service. I certainly won't be recommending the House of Graduates to any graduates.

I purchased a very specific item, which was a hood for a 3 year diploma and they decided to give me a hood for an advanced diploma even though they had very clear specifications on paper.

I recently had the displeasure of dealing with House of Graduates, and I must say, it was a nightmare from start to finish. Their ordering system is an absolute mess, making zero sense and causing unnecessary confusion. Despite paying for my graduation attire well in advance, I faced endless hassles and delays in receiving my order. The staff at their Durban (DBN) and Pretoria (PTA) branches were shockingly rude, displaying a level of disrespect that is simply unacceptable. Their lack of professionalism and unwillingness to assist customers left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. It’s evident that the company culture is severely lacking in basic courtesy and customer service skills. One can only imagine what kind of leadership fosters such a toxic environment. It’s clear that the owner and management of House of Graduates must be bunch of a**holes , because the staff are disgustingly rude. AVOID THIS BUSINESS, there are other service providers.
