The worst customer service I have experienced in a very long time! Despite receiving written confirmation to decrease our collection frequency, Iron Mountain continued to collect as regularly as before. Collections are at random times and unannounced, with the collections team asking any available member of the team to sign the collection form (no matter how junior). After months of appealing the additional collections / invoices and receiving little to know response, we were told that although their account manager was at fault in not updating the internal system, it is our responsibility to monitor their team's collection frequency and turn the Iron Mountain team away. We will never again engage with their services.

I requested a list of our archived files from Iron Mountain South Africa a few weeks ago. Despite collecting and charging me for archiving and storage, they had not sent me an updated list for over 4 months. What followed is a travesty: 1) It took over a week to get a response to my request. This is for a listing that should be easily available to download as this is what they base their billing on. 2) After complaining to the South African company, I was sent a list and a password to open the file. It turns out that they sent me all the private information for a different company. I am not sure what type of POPI breach this is, but I received a lot of confidential information, and I am now concerned about the confidentiality of my information that is kept at Iron Mountain. 3) After informing them of their error, the company spent another week trying to pass the blame between their various divisions, and I still did not get my information. 4) I then complained to both our local complaints website HelloPeter and the UK Iron Mountain company, and only then received the requested information. 5) I also received an email from the UK company which said the following: " Sadly we have had multiple points of failure where due processes were not followed and as such put not only our relationship, but also the business in jeopardy." 6) I was also informed that an investigation had been launched and I will receive feedback. I have not heard anything since. 7) When I examined the list of archived files I had been sent, I discovered that Iron Mountain had not actually archived the individual files in each box as per our agreement and SLA, they had simply kept a record of the number written on the box they had received from me. 8) I am therefore unable to retrieve my required files as they do not have an accurate record of them. 9) I sent an email to both Iron Mountain South Africa and Iron Mountain UK asking that they correct the archiving and have not received a single response to this complaint. I now have an urgent need for a file which I cannot find on the listing as a result of the above.

I get charged every month for storage and archiving however I do not get sent the listing of my files. When I request them they take a week to send what should be easily available, and then they send the listing for another company (POPIA issues, how safe is your information??). I have now had to endure all the staff trying to make excuses about what went wrong, and I STILL don’t have my listing.

Bad service from accounts department, no reply to e-mails. They just invoice as they wish and if you query the amounts they never get back to you. Stay far away from this company!! Very quick to contact a person to get your business, but then nothing!!

We have received nothing but problems from Iron Mountain, previously Shred It. For about 5 years I have been trying to resolve invoicing issues with our account. The finance division is a shambles and certainly could use some qualified people working on the corporate accounts. We have 11 branches and I have had issues with all the invoices. We pay invoices and then receive duplicate invoices billed on a different account number for the invoices that were paid. It has taken 5 years to have some of these invoices credited whilst other invoices have been billed using the incorrect amounts and we are still waiting for credits. To top this all off, I needed to send Iron Mountain copies of our contracts to confirm our billing costs. I requested all proof of payments from our bank dating back to 2018 and have reconciled their account for them several times. We were also fortunate enough to received invoices for April 2020, our offices were closed, and no services could take place for which I have received no proof of service from them and no credit notes either. Then, lo and behold, our services are suspended due to non-payment, yet 2 months ago I offered to settle certain invoices I felt may be due to them on condition I received the required documentation. Recently we have received invoices for services with no details of where the service took place. Iron Mountain cannot give me completed work orders for these invoices either but expect payment. Iron Mountain should be shut down in South Africa. If they can't get their accounts straight, how can a business trust them with anything else?

No customer service, no replies to emails. Treated with rudeness and disrespect. Unable to resolve account in 12 months. Erwin Dorfling and Flamely Fourie copied into all correspondence requesting assistance - blatantly ignored. No confidence left in this company, its Management and employees.

Our experience with Iron Mountain just gets worse with every email. They have issues with their invoicing, with new systems which don't seem to work. Incompetent staff who have no idea what they are doing. We keep getting emails telling us our account is in arrears and when we query it, we are told it's a system error. We have now tried to withdraw documents and have been told our account is on hold due to invoices outstanding. Is this another system error?? It has now been a week of trying to sort this out and not a single staff member gets back to us. If this is what their service levels look like, then I cannot imagine how safe our confidential documents are being kept.
