Our house is part of a communal estate newly built in Somerset West. There is a code that says all of the units must be uniform in appearance with regards to colour coding and the type of building materials used. Due to poor workmanship, our house is the only one with a silver patch on the black tile roof, because of an ongoing water leak in the roof. There is a water leak inside and around the chimney where rainwater syphons through into the walls and the fireplace. The walls are cracking, the paint is peeling off, there is damp inside the walls, the braai area is built so skew, that we had to install extra wooden boxes to make our cupboards fit in square. The hand railing for the stairs was cut off too short and led to everyone in our household take a fall. Within two years, we had to replace the kitchen cupboards. We also had to replace all the poor supports of all the shelves of each cupboard, because it could not carry the weight and was of poor quality. Some of the lights are rusted. The cornices in the master bedroom are gaping from the wall. The wind blows into the ceiling at such a rate that the covers of the latches blow out of position. We had to fix it with magnets. The floor and shower tiles are not evenly spaced. All of this within two years after KingsHill finished their construction.
