I have been a tenant at the Knysna Mall for several years and therefore, I see myself as a consumer. About a year ago, the administration of Knysna Mall approached me and advised me that I had to relocate to another shop in the mall because they had a “better” tenant who was eager to take the premises that I was occupying. This was terribly inconvenient and was at a loss business to be pushed away in a corner where walk in business was drastically reduced bearing in mind that as a businessman, I supported the local community with labour and goods, amongst other things. They had refused to negotiate any further than that I had to leave the premises so occupied. I comp**** with the request and when I moved to the alternative place, the administration /owners would not allow me to advertise a closing down sale sign. I was left with no other alternative but to close down because of the loss of business as a result of the relocation to another spot. I then vacated the premises in and during May 2025 and according to the terms and conditions of the lease, I comp**** with all the requirements in respect of vacating the property. Of-course, I was to be refunded the deposit rental amount by Knysna Mall less any reinstatement costs with a few days. Since May, Knysna Mall and their administration have made several excuses about the refund including but not limited to that one of the directors or owners is travelling and has yet to authorize the payment to me. I have had many email and telecommunications with Madele, one of the administration staff, who has repeatedly mentioned that the payment to me has yet to be authorized. My plea has also gone to one Sam and another person, Sharon. This has been going on for almost two months. I have reason to believe that the “prospective tenant” excuse that they used to relocate me to another spot in the Knysna Mall has not taken occupation which means that they **** about the said tenant. I also have reason to believe that they now do not want to refund my deposit rentals and are now being dishonest about the owners and managers etcetera and are therefore using delay and evasive tactics. I want the public out there to also know that this has happened to me because I am a non-white even though the buying power of Knysna Mall is dependent on the trade of mainly non -whites. I want the tourists who come to Knysna to be aware that they should not shop at Knysna Mall and that the Knysna community must do their shopping elsewhere because of the rotten attitude of the Knysna Mall owners and their staff who lack professional and other decorum and lack the ability of an application of their minds in the absence of their bosses, if their story about the boss not authorizing payment is true.
I hope other shopping avenues open in Knysna in competition and the business of Knysna Mall collapses. I also hope that the owners and administration staff of the Knysna Mall die of an incurable disease and such oppressors in the commercial world of Knysna Mall are driven into the ground. DONT SUPPORT KNYSNA MALL. DONT GO THERE. YOU WILL BE CONNED.
