On Friday 29 March, an elderly lady (aided with a walking stick) and I went to the theatre. On arrival at the theatre, I slowed down to enquire from the staff member where it would be best to park. On noticing my friend and the walking stick, he quickly removed some barriers and guided me to park right in front of the theatre! He went further to assist her in getting out of the car. Then once we had our tickets, we informed the show was in theatre 2 and that meant climbing stairs - well a staff member from the theatre promptly arrived to assist! We could not stop remarking on the courteous and helpfulness of the staff. Well done to all who made this such a pleasant experience.

After exhausting all options to source cloakroom/bus/admission tickets – and knowing from being a regular patron there that if you attend a film being screened at ***** Theatre, Orange Street, Cape Town you will be handed a coloured coupon – I called and spoke to the manager, Ludi Kraus. Unhesitatingly he offered to supply me with a small stock to tide me over. Rose/Kathy had these ready for me to collect and, in addition in case I need more, Ludi wrote down the name of the sole supplier who is Gauteng-based. What service! What an attitude! Another great reason to visit this grand ol’ lady of theatre – that is, besides the wonderful films I get to enjoy there. And don’t talk about good value for money.
