My nephew got married at Lace on Timber recently, We were impressed with the neat layout of the grounds and the Architecture, especially the Chapel. We paid R1200 to stay the night in one of the en suite rooms and was expecting the accommodation to be on par with the fee. The room was also very neat and clean with the same type of build as the other buildings on the grounds. The buildings do not have ceilings so as to expose the IBR sink roof. Although it is aesthetically pleasing it is definitely not practical. It rained for the most part of our stay there, so during the reception we battled to hear the speeches due to the noise of the rain on the sink roof. Coupled to the bad acoustics of the hall, we really battled to conversate and hear the speeches. Due to the Reception hall not having toilets inside, we had to walk about 60m in the rain to the toilets adjacent to the hall area. After the reception we retired to our rooms for the night, looking forward to a good night's rest. We were told that the rooms had Queen size beds, but found it to be a normal double bed - Not what you would expect for R1200 per night. We had almost no sleep due to the noise of the rain on the exposed sink roof and only fell asleep when dawn came as the rain relented a bit. Unfortunately our sleep was interrupted again by the cleaning crew starting to rake the gravel outside our rooms before 08:00. Check out time is an unusually early 09:00, so we just got up and decided to leave early as the R1200 did not include breakfast. In general our impression of Lace on Timber was that it is overpriced and trying to give minimum in return for our money. I would not recommend it as a Wedding venue, especially when it rains.

So grateful to have had my wedding at this amazing venue. From start to finish it was an incredible experience. 1. The owners and their team can be proud of the amazing venue they've created. 2. The coordinators were very professional and made sure it was a stress free evening. 3. The food was out of this world. On time and perfect! 4. The accommodation was top notch. If you want your dream wedding, Lace on Timber will go out of their way to make sure it comes true! Thanks a LOT (No pun intended)

It is with a heavy heart that i write this revue as this was our special Wedding Day! I see similar complaints on Hello Peter about the owner of this establishment. Lace on Timber is one of the most expensive wedding venues currently. So we saved up and did everything to make our dream come alive. It however in the early days of our planning became very evident that should you not use the in house florist (which is also the owner) you get treated differently. On the evening of the wedding our gift box was opened by the owner Peter of Lace on Timber (without our consent). It has come to our attention that there were several envelopes missing. He arrived at our bridal room with a “packet” with envelopes. I also had a guest putting R15000 on the bar tab. Lace on Timber have s little book they write the drinks down in on the night of your wedding, and this for a hundred guests. My spouse’s boss also put another R10000 on the bar tab and by the end of the evening every guest still had to pay bar tabs. We also still had to buy drinks at 11 as the bsr was closing and this was another couple of thousand rand. At the end of the evening my spouse also still had to settle a tab of R3000. There was also money deducted from our deposit (which i have no problem with) however without an invoice or explanation what the deduction was for. To get to the point, we got married on 17/04/2021. Seven days later i sent my first email upon a guest asking if we received their envelope, which we did not. NO RESPONSE. A week later i sent another email after which i received a response with the deposit deductions (10 beer glasses, 3 red wine glasses, 3 white wine glasses, 3 champaign glasses) now call me ignorant but this just sounds like a thumb suck. I know there must be broken glasses however this is a little far fetched. In this response they confirmed they would still respond to me on the issue regarding the gift box as well as provide me with the R15 000 bar tab. AGAIN this NEVER happend. I then followed up again a few days later and stated i was going to go to social media. The following day (this now a month after our wedding) i received a thumb suck bar tab on excel (i guess we could all put R15 000 alcohol on a spreadsheet). Re the gift box the video footage does not exist anymore as its apparently taped over. However i requested this 3 weeks ago. The owner then also proceeds to tell me “if its any consolation the barmen does not work there anymore”. I almost feel this is admission if guilt. He bad mouthed my florist who complained about how badly they were treated on the day of the wedding. Stating he knows its my “sister” which it most certainly is not. This purely because his wife did not do our flowers. Peter spoke badly to our guests and has no resolve for our missing gifts, why he felt it was his job to open our gift box. The “fake” bar tab, “fake” deposit invoice. Etc. Its disappointing that you do the best you can to have the most amazing wedding day for the owners of the venue to let you down, degrade your guests and have no answers to your stolen gifts. I also note they have never answered a hello peter complaint, which also leaves a lot for the heart to be desired.

unprofessional service and behaviour Owner fighting with guests, accusing them of drinking too much and assume they cannot afford to pay the bill (refusing to sell alchol to people due to his comment is you wont be able to pay the bill R1200 so im closing your account) Bar closed and electricity tripped 11:30 No hot water to shower in the morning for all stay over guests Lace on Timber's neighbour pitched at the honeymoon sweet to tell bride, groom and friends to keep quite in the presence of the Owner. Making racest remarks Wedding planner left at 18:00 Food was cold and collected before guest could finish up. Some guest did not get food, name tags not placed on table 14 Stunning venue but thats about it. Owner is arrogant and bad manners. I do not recommend this venue due to the way the owner treats the client

<p>Owner likes to fight with guests after parking them in. I had old people with me (80 Years plus) and it was raining. I moved my car closer to the function facility to collect the aged people to discover that my car was parked in. When requesting the owner to move his car he replied he can park wherever he like as he is the owner. Then a words shouting followed and fight.</p> <p> </p> <p>I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO HOLD ANY FUNCTION AT LACE ON TIMBER</p>
